There is a lot more gun restrictions here in Brazil, which maybe is why we have the most dangerous cities in the world + an extremely high murder rate.

So yeah, the dude was just extremely unlucky.

Getting the right to own a gun is extremely complicated. It is a labyrinth of burocracy. You have to go to the Federal Police (our FBI, in a sense) with a bunch of documents not only requesting to own a gun but explaining in detail why you want/ need it. You also need to be older than 25, be employed and have a home, have no criminal record and have a certification of technical capacity and psychological aptitude given by a certified shootings instructor.

It tends to be that only certain professions will end up having guns, like policemen, military, people from the Judiciary.

Cannot agree with you there without further proof. "Would have been safer" is a state that ends in the past. I could agree with you if I was talking about an event that happened and ended, like "If I had a gun when I was robbed, I would have been safer". Instead I am talking about something that continues. "If we had more guns, we would be safer". Maybe "will" is better than "would" in this situation, I dunno.

Nah. I am still right. In English it is not about the time, past or present. It is a grammatical conditional clause that happens to look like a past tense even that it refers to the present.
It is a classic Type 2 Conditional. The tenses it uses are building blocks, nothing more.

We have a radio program right now where a leftie is arguing that Poland should become a part of European Federation, which should be the next progressive step of development of the EU. Of course swallowing all the ideological social engineering along the way. That the EU is collapsing and the UK already left, with Denmark likely to follow suit does not brighten his thoughts. Jebus on the organ farming.
