I'm thinking of replacing Dementation 2 (Insight) with something else. With the college instead of the books, the intelligence bonus has no more use. And if I include the clan weakness, as suggested in the "Malkavians" topic, I think I should restore the vanilla clan bonus of +2 inspection.
So I thought Dementation 2 might work as "Coughing Fit" or perhaps "Laughing Fit". It would distract people near you for a very short time, and thus allow your character to sneak past them. Similar to Dominate 2. I'm not quite certain yet, if it also should stop them from running up to a "Hysteria" victim. Certainly the duration and range would not be long enough to use it as cover for feeding in public. And it can't affect people moving into range after the discipline use, only people who already are there.

I'd rather avoid making Dementation powers that are similair to Dominate powers. One of the things I like about Camarilla Edition is that Dementation and Dominate are no longer essentially the same discipline. Anther thing is that Malks have Obfuscate so a power that allows them to sneak past people seems a little redundant.

Insight could be made useful again if the Intelligence bonus was repalced with a Hacking bonus (it helps you guess the password), but if you're determined to make a brand new power I'd suggest something that fears a single mortal target and makes them run away from you in terror. You could call it something like Vision of Terror or The Haunting (although it's totally different than the p&p version of The Haunting).

The power could make group fights a little easier and would also be somewhat useful for feeding. Instead of having to wait for people to walk into a dark alley, you could terrorize them and make them run into the dark alley, where you can jump on them. Twisted Evil Or if there are three people in the dark alley, you can terrorize one, make the second one hysteric, and feed on the third.

It qould be nice if dementation had something to .....to.......(the verb).......confuse (?) enemies,so they will fight each other for a small period of time (but large area of effect).

Maybe you could take the original power (berserk?) and just have them not drop dead at the end of it...

Fleeing in terror is good too. Crowd control is always useful, especially for a sneaky clan.

I actually like the idea Dragatus had, he has a good point as far as making a sneaking power for a clan w/ Obfuscate. Kind've redundant.

I like the Berserk idea unfortunately the Berserk power is a preset function so they have to drop dead at the end. I found while making disciplines just how limited I was which made making new effects very difficult. I'm sure Childe is running into the same problems right now.

Well, after looking up abit on Dementation, here's a few good ideas for a replacement for Insight.

"Voice of Madness: Provoke extreme fear or anger in target."

This power of Dementation could either could work like Serpentis 4: Phobia in the FN mod (Except instead of crouching down in fear, more like hysterically running away) and/or like Berzerk, without the death and only able to use fists. Depending on how you guys want it, it could be area of effect or single target, and the "anger" part could happen less often than the hysterical running away (thinks back to Simon in the Abandoned Hospital in VTMB).


"Shattered Mirror: Twist a victim's personality into a copy of yours."

I kind of imagine this working like either like Mask of a Thousand Faces of Obfuscate, where everybody starts attacking the target, or like the Target starts attacking everybody until everyone else dies.


"Confusion: Cause the target to wander around in a daze."

Well, its like the Forgetful Mind of Dominate, but this version would cause the target in question to not notice you until it wears off. Could be area of effect or Target discipline. And would greatly help in Feeding.
