| zip/rar/z7 etc are compressed files - they take up less space on the server and are actually generally a more stable download on most browsers. Which when you have to pay for space, can be the difference in a fair bit of change when you take into account the number of files.
The actual exe itself won't be changed from before it was compressed when it is unpacked - However Patches Scrolls puts in a little html file into the zip as a reminder where the file came from.

| But can these kind of files come incomplete with unstable net? Mine's falls a lot, tried to download the file 1x from PatchesScrolls wich we know it's bugged(lacks 2 MB of the file total size), 2 times from ModDB (first time my internet falls when half hour left and second time was like 2 minutes missing, I turned away from the PC a little, came back and was finished, but the file had 324MB intead of the 326.2 it has to be, so guess it was a really fast d/c and reconnect) and one try from FileSend, but the speed gets real low (10-20kbps) and my net d/c each 3-4 hours alone, since it's wireless and we are having a lot of storms lately the energy and internet falls really easy x.X Hope we can get the file by torrent x.x
ModDB file must be fine, I tried again but with only 70MB left it finished, so it's really my net the problem.

| I am downloading CE 1.2 from ModDB right now, I have downloaded 68% and will take 16 more minutes for the rest. I haven't used dialup in ages and I have never used satellite internet before so I am unsure what happens to a download when it gets dropped, but from what you say it sounds like you lose the download.
If this is an issue I would recommend going to a public place like an internet cafe or public library that has broadband and download it from there. I am unfamiliar how less developed countries handle their internet (aka Brazil, Macedonia, and some of the others mentioned here) so I really can't comment. In America we have FREE broadband everywhere like airports, libraries, coffe shops, hospitals.... everywhere, and our internet does not charge by the minute or bandwidth used, it's a flat FEE for unlimited time and bandwidth each month so you can download until your hearts content.

| It's like that here, we pay for a fast net service and the signal is received via cable to a modem, I got a router and connected to the computer along with this modem so I could send signal by my router, in a distance of 2 rooms (10 meters +-) I have 2 computers that receives the signal by adaptors. But because of the distance I get only 60% of the signal, if the wind gets too strong everything is shut down -.-" because we got many trees here,if the energy cable just scratch a little.. blackout lol, if it rains it's about 40-50% chance of disconnect for few seconds, but can also happen of disconnect if on a sunny day because the company that offers the services can't deal with the number of clients they have, so the service is crappy. Hope here the service of internet get as good as in USA and Europe.
Since I moved to this place I have no options, unless depend on torrents for big downloads, normal downloads only till 150MB max.
I saw your reply at the ModDB Zer0, thx for replying ^^ guess must be this weak signal here then for my low speed at File Send.

| You live in Brazil, is that correct? Brazil is a pretty big country, is it this way everywhere or do some of the larger cities have broadband you can use?
Just to be clear, it is your modem that drops the connection right? Not the wireless from your computer to the modem, because if thats the case you should just connect your computer directly to your modem with a long CAT5e cable so you don't have to worry about a wireless NIC. But if your modem drops then I guess it wouldn't really matter.

| I live in São Paulo, if we would compare Brazil to USA this would be Brazil's New York, the internet of the city have a good speed, but it's really expensive, 4 months ago I moved to a side of city that 15 years ago was like country side and now is beggining to develop, so the internet service is soso, I think the modem or the router is not the problem, can be only three things.. weather, bad internet service or the adaptors. I'm sure I configured the wireless fine. Can seem weird but the service I pay here is 2MBPS, so I should download on normal around 150-200kbps. When I had other internet provider where I used to live, would rarely fall even the speed being less (50kbps). | |

| Understood, well by directly connecting the computer you're using to download CE 1.2 directly to your modem via CAT5e, that will take care of any wireless NIC drops. Then all you would have to worry about is losing the internet connection from your modem to the tower because of bad weather or whatever.
2Mbps download is respectable, you should be able to pull CE 1.2 in < 1 hour from Filesend or ModDB assuming your internet doesn't drop.

| The download was a success ^^ I tried in the same machine, the other one was being used so no option lol Was lucky because it rained a lot but no falls on the net, already playing the MOD, loved the new style, great job =] Just a few doubts, I noticed in Santa Monica's beach Beckett in wolf form, he was there in the original game also or added by mods? I played many times but never noticed him in there xD the game's really good now with the MOD, but you intend to do more updates on Camarilla Mod to fuse maybe with Wesp's final patch, last release was 6.7 and he said soon there will be the final patching. The last is kinda a useless thing i'm going to say since I doubt many people would notice this, but if the wolf in Santa Monica's beach is Beckett, would be cool add the dark color in his body heat (if you watch him in Protean he emanates heat as if he's alive), haven't tried it with Auspex yet. | |

| Awesome! I'm so glad it's working for you!
You must be talking about when you walk up the pier stairs for the first time you see Beckett in wolf form running away. I believe thats been in the game since vanilla, at least I think it was, it's been that way since as long as I can remember.
As far as Wesp's patches are concerned, I fully merged CE 1.2 with 6.5 and then I took the fixes that I wanted from 6.6 and put them in CE 1.2 as well. Thats how I will be doing Wesp's patches for now on, if I see a fix that I want then I will grab it, otherwise I won't be doing anymore full blind mergers.
As far as Beckett's wolf form Aura glowing red like he gives off body heat, not much I can do about that, besides that seems like a petty thing to dedicate alot of time on.

| Yes, and I noticed the same thing about the heat in the ghosts at Ocean House, isn't something really worth modifying.Too bad Troika is over, wish there were more games of vampires like Bloodlines or Redemptions.. can't remember in wich forum I read about a new vampire game being developed, no idea if it's for computer or book, hope it's for PC lol | |

| The ghosts give off heat too? LOL thats funny... I didn't know that, I never turned on Protean in the ocean house, never needed too. From what I understand some European based small gaming company have been trying to put together a "World of Darkness" MMO since 2006. I checked out their website and they indeed did announce the project but appears nothing has been done with it, it looks like it was placed on the back shelf at best. Not a single screenshot, title, concept, or trailer, absolutely nothing for 3 years now on it so I'm not holding my breath. For now it looks like it's Bloodlines or bust.. Edit: The company that's supposedly creating it is the same company that is working on Eve Online. Here is their World of Darkness page, see if you can find any details on it, I sure couldn't. http://www.ccp.is/worldofdarkness/default.asp I found this is Wikipedia but judging by what I see online, non of it seems to be true. "A merger between Crowd Control Productions and White Wolf, Inc. was announced at the annual Eve Online fanfest in Reykjavík, Iceland, in November 2006. As part of the deal, it was announced that White Wolf would be adapting the Eve Online intellectual property into a RPG, and CCP explicitly stated "There will be a World of Darkness Online", referring to a MMORPG version of the game. According to the latest news, work has already begun on the WoD MMORPG and full time production is to commence within the year and launch in 4–5 years.[1] Full production of the WoD MMORPG will start March 2009 after the Eve Online expansion is finished according to CCP.[2] Official confirmation that the game is currently in development surfaced in Aug 2009 on the official CCP web site.[3] It is scheduled to launch in the 2010" | |

| But thinking about the time, Half Life 2 for example was released 5 years after the first game and was extremely different and way better. I think another release of Vampire would be better making a chain of stories like, in Redemption we got that the PC sire may be one of the head of the Camarilla, wich the Anarchs hate, Jack is kinda a mysterious guy, so maybe some game that shows his past and how the cab guy is connected to him,etc.. kinda put the chars together in one game or some game with expansion packs.. anyway, don't know if they would have interest, we are in the Xbox 360,Wii and PS3 times, even Microsoft started making games only for 360 x.x (i'm one of the Fable 2 fans who wont be able to enjoy it without using money on a 360), let's hope this MMO may bring more people to know the Vampire series and try the old games of it =S I'm also expecting a Sould Reaver release for 6 years lol another badass vampire game that's kinda forgotten. | |

| Jacks' past is included in some of the Vampire Novels. Also in the Clanbook: Brujah He was a pirate in life The guy in the cab is theorised to be his Malkavian friend who has a 'Caine-Complex' as his primary derangement. Ekaterina the Wise - the sire of Cristof from Redemption is NOT camarilla at all! She declares herself antitribu and becomes an Archbishop within the Sabbat! As for more WoD like ths - it won't happen. The Apocalypse happened, anything new will be fan made and can only be distributed within the confines of what White Wolf will allow. Doesn't stop you getting a group to actually have a roleplay of the game though, the books are incredibly cheap online now. | |

| True man, I played again Redemption future part, had forgot that detail of Ecaterina lol
Let's wait to see then this release in 2010 (if it really comes), i'm kinda afraid because I once played an vampire online game, can't remember the name now, but you could be vampire, hunter and some kind of mage race, had Diablo II graphs, you couldn't really feel like a vampire, that stuff of use your hands to drain blood hehe.

| 2010 does sound too optimistic, considering average time for development for an MMO is between five and ten years. | |
