PostSubject: Status of CE   Sun Apr 22, 2012 6:49 pm

Wesp has announced the 8.0 version of the patch for the near future. Though no set release date yet. And the new library map won't make it in v8.0 either.
I will most probably follow with the 1.6 release of CE shortly after I got the new patch, and have merged it in and tested. There won't be a lot of completely new CE features.

-as usual, there are always some fixes for problems with the prior version
-some minor changes, mainly with the quest-log, for the "Meet Akeem/Nos haven" quest
-many computers have randomized passwords now; including changes on the written hints for these passwords. But it doesn't work for email passwords, only those for other subdirctories/functions. Usually every terminal that has password protected functions without a hint from a dialog has two to five different ones, depending on the importance and difficulty.
-For the pump in the warrens, I have added an autocycle function on the computer only. That will give good hackers a bonus of about 10 seconds time to swim up to the reservoir, before the pump cuts in again. I'll probably leave a written hint to the password somewhere, for good inspection only.
-If you need ammo for your guns, have a good look around in the Ash-sewer.

Honestly I've appreciated when EXP from Hacking skill was used in other skills, though.
So I've thought - what if Malkav adds some Hack-bonuses, like the bonus with the pump I've read shortly before I started this reply. And so - why not add some seconds for those quests which assume Stealth-chars will get bonuses. Like +1 EXP to all bonuses for stealthing all the time in museum or in warehouse (i remember that if you disable a guy near the train with Trance/Hysteria/Animalism and get to the top, then crawl under the roof to the office, you get bonus EXP if no one sees you and no Sabbat will come and no closed doors on your way back too).
So if you choose Stealth + Hacking, EXP will flow, and if you can't Stealth good or don't roleplay Stealth-char, you will get bonuses with Hacking...

And kaboom - Malkav suggested this all. I'm slowpoke =)

Certainly not before the end of the month. I'm currently merging CE with the UP, but I'm not really in the mood to spend much time on it. So, it's a slow process. And then I still have to tie up a few loose ends for other things I intend to include. And test it...

I'm mired in a foul ennui. How many nights have I wasted, gazing from the tower walks...

Do not worry, Mad Doctor... You will eventually find a cure for your beloved CE. I am sure of it.

Thanks for the honest update!! I don't mind having to wait for your awesome updates at all, it just helps a lot to have something of an idea of when i can sink my teeth into it!

This will give me the opportunity to play through 1.5 again, I was nervous about starting a game I wouldn't finish, but since CE1.6 is still a few weeks away or so, i'll start it!

Sorry folks, not much progress to report right now. I'm still stuck in the merging with the new patch. And atm, work speed is at about 1 or 2 files per day, with all the maps still to go...

Don't worry, you have our full moral support. Technical support is out of reach for most of us, I'm afraid. Sad

Thanks for your support.

There is one good thing, though. Since Wesp has changed the whole base/plus patch business, and added Entenschreck's idle animations, there is now a timer and a logic_auto at the end of every map file. That will make merging the map files more work this time, but for future upgrades, it will probably be easier.

On another matter. What do you think about making the temple guards a bit stronger? I'd suggest katanas instead of shin-guntos, Rahe-blades instead of katanas, and flaming crossbows instead of normal ones. Also I think about a non-feeding flag at least for the red shirts.

I think that the first few enemies should have normal crossbows and then flaming when you enter the cellar.
As for non-feed flag I can't see I see how it fits in fluff-wise, but hey, you can't diablerize either so it should be fine.

I have spoken! What a Face

You can also re-arm guys in the cellars with figurines, though I've always thought Steyr AUG is best weapon when you need to pummel someone down.

I think they are OK as they are, generally... Maybe some of them could go up a notch, but not all. An fto no feeding, for me it is a no-no. It is a big temple and a lot of blood to burn.

As I said, the no-feeding would only apply to some of them. Most probably only the red shirts. For me, the temple is kind of boring. Often I just walk down the corriors without any disciplines and let them come up to me for being cut to ribbons. Sleep

EDIT: I think, I really have to find a way to make different difficulty levels. For preferance in a way that can be selected at character creation, without the need to reinstall.
