Some of the hunters have true sight, so they can see through obfuscate.
For Ash, I know there is a problem. If I completely cut him loose, he will wander aimlessly about, and either be seen by the hunters or return to the starting point, no matter where you tell him to wait.
Just changing the follower template also is problematic. I have to keep his backoff distance inside the "talk to radius" or the player has to corner him if he wants to talk to him again. I'll see what I can do.
