It's nice. They went back a bit more to the horror roots of vampires when it comes to their abilities and behavior, and it isn't completely focussed on catering to the teenage crowd. The wireless energy is a bit weird considering the age, but easily looked past.

As a fan of wireless energy I know it's precisely the right time Smile Anyway you're right, it ain't bad; though I feel it needs to be slower, subtler to be perfect. 4/5 so far Smile

It's to much like a soap opera. I'm not digging it. I think American Horror Story can do a better job telling a vampire story and I'm sure they will after they get done with "The Coven." There's to much of: "Oh Mina! You look so much like my dead wife...I must have you but I'm going to do a lot of other boring backstabbing and threatening other wealthy people, stuff first." Blah Blah Blah I'm not scared of this guy at all. He's not creepy..he's not interesting. Now they need to focus on Masquerade shows. Throw a Jeanette character in there and a Jack in there. Characters with personality.

Last time they did a masquerade show, a nosferatu was a tall bald guy with white facepaint. Then again it was the 80s.

The problem with WoD is, there is too much lore to deliver all at once, while we may get it, they need to get other people to watch it as well.

Kindred: The Embraced was a 90's show...wasn't to horrible though could of been better. They were thinking about trying again with the same actors when the lead died in a motorcycle accident.

Yeah I watched a couple episodes of Kindred last night. Ahh I still feel Forever Knight was better. I could watch that from beginning to end all day long. There was romance but that wasnt like the whole show. I don't watch soap operas and I certainly don't like when they have one masquerading around as a WoD show. Shows like True Blood and Dracula are okay if you're in to mellow drama. I found Being Human to be more entertaining than Dracula.

I can think of far worse ones. It could have been done much better though.

Kindred kind of suffered from the: 1 person becomes super important thing.

I mean, the idea, that entire events in the city, would revolve around and be heavily influenced by 1 man, whom is kine AND a cop, just doesn't fit the setting tbh.

Now that I agree with, though I had imagined that he was someone that was in line to be embraced, with or without his permission. I think the shows producers tried to do it that way because they were concerned that audiences wouldn't accept a story about vampires only especially one in that humans were basically cattle.

A Masquerade show would have to be about some poor fuck who just got embraced and gets thrown into Camarilla politics without a clue of what's going on. And as our protagonists slowly learns about the whole vampire thing, so does the audience.

Season 1 could deal with the shock of suddenly becoming undead and dealing with the ties to your former life, while setting up material for the next season. Viewers get introduced to the basics of how vampires work and the usual disciplines. Tremere presence would be light because we don't want to confuse viewers.

Season 2 finds our protagonist promoted from fledgeling to neonate and the series starts to center on vampire politics. Camarilla vs Anarchs. Viewers would get to know Thaumaturgy and there could be a few vampires from independant clans showing off their unique dsiciplines.

Season 3 would continue the theme from the previous season, but towards the end of it the viewers would get introduced to the Sabbat and clan Tzimisce. Twisted Evil

Season 4 would find the Sabbat have an increasingly large role culminating in a siege and takeover of the city. Lasombra nad Tzimisce are properly introduced and players get familiar with Obtenebration and Vicissitude.

Season 5 finds our protagonist leading the effort to reclaim the city. After a final showdown with the Lasombra archbishop the city is either returned to Camarilla control or becomes an Anarch barony. The series ends there, but if it's successful enough there could be spinoffs.

Brujah wouldbe the most fitting clan if we want our protagonist to be a classical hero (combat ability + Presence), but Ventrue would make for an interesting alternative. While Celerity, Potence and the low levels of Presence can all be pretty clear good guy abilities (or at least that's how the viewers would see them), Dominate is inherently sinister to the viewer and we could have the protagonist debate on whether it's alright to mess with people's minds like that.

Additionally on the surface the conflict between Camarilla and Anarch would look like the evil empire vs freedom fighters to viewers (and the Sababt naturally would be seen as the barbarian horde), with the Aanrchs as the obvious good guys. Of course if you delve deeper that's not necessarily true, but it is how most viewers would see it. A Ventrue protagonist would make it more interesting because he or she wouldn't be so obviously inclined to team up with the Anarchs.

Of the other clans we can quickly rule out Malkavians (hero needs to be sane), Nosferatu (hero can't be ugly), and Tremere (series should be about vampries, not magic). A Gangrel or Toreador protagonist would still be possible, but I think less fitting than Brujah or Ventrue.

See, that's what I like about clan Tzimisce. It's an instantaneous "oh shit nigga run nigga RUN". That reminds me I promised a wall of text explaining why the Old Clan is not only useless but damaging to the scenario. I'm working on it.

I think the Sabbat would have to be introduced the first season. That Sabbat-Camarilla conflict drives a lot of Kindred politics. "Well, the Camarilla is bullshit, but without them we wouldn't be organized enough to fight the Sabbat." Then as the series goes on, you learn that it was the actions of elder Kindred that basically created the Sabbat in the first place, and that they aren't much better than the 'monsters' you are fighting.

I agree that the Tremere would have to be introduced later, to avoid confusing viewers. Tzimisce make good villians though.

The Sabbat could be mentioned early, but I don't think they should make an appearance until later. At least the Tzimisce and Lasombra. The idea is to slowly increase the complexity and introduce new concepts to the viewer. That's why season 1 would only show "normal" vampiric powers like Celerity, Auspex, and Protean. Things that viewers would already expect vampires to do. Vicissitude is weird and unusual and would IMO be too much of a distraction at a point when the show is still building it's foundations.

And saving the Sabbat only clans for season 3+ would also allow for the anticipation to slowly build up. You could throw a Tzimsice into the viewers' faces in season 1 and they'd go WTF and adjust. Or you could have various vampires, including ancilla and elders, react with unease whenever the subject comes up in conversation for nearly 3 seasons before actually unleashing the Fiends on the viewer. And then they'd be all like: "What is this? It sounds like that stuff the likeable ancilla mentor figure was talking about. Could it be? OMG, it is! It's a Tzim! It's a Tzim! Run for the hills!"
