If only! They'll use it on native population and fine them in the process for screaming and running without permit.

Fewer. Guns are countable objects. Alternatively you could use "firepower" in place of "guns" and keep "less" as firepower is not a countable object.

And maybe Brazil has more illegal guns?

I stand corrected. It warms my heart not to be the only Grammar Nazi here!

The thief did not show much brilliance indeed...

It was in Brazil. Apprently those dudes were all Military Policeman on civilian garb.

There is a lot more gun restrictions here in Brazil, which maybe is why we have the most dangerous cities in the world + an extremely high murder rate.

So yeah, the dude was just extremely unlucky.

Depending on the year and on the firm making the study, Brazil has 3 to 6 cities in the Top 10 most dangerous cities.
What else do you want me to say? It's dangerous here.

Getting the right to own a gun is extremely complicated. It is a labyrinth of burocracy. You have to go to the Federal Police (our FBI, in a sense) with a bunch of documents not only requesting to own a gun but explaining in detail why you want/ need it. You also need to be older than 25, be employed and have a home, have no criminal record and have a certification of technical capacity and psychological aptitude given by a certified shootings instructor.

It tends to be that only certain professions will end up having guns, like policemen, military, people from the Judiciary.

If we had more guns in the hands of good people instead of criminals, we would be safer.

*would have been safer.

It is a conditional clause. Sorry to be a Grammar Nazi, I was born that way.

Philo, don't you know it is easier to govern a defenseless society? It is no coincidence only the enforcers of the rules are armed. It is like so in any self respecting mob. Those paying the recets cannot have means to defend themselves, otherwise they would have gotten insolent.

Cannot agree with you there without further proof. "Would have been safer" is a state that ends in the past. I could agree with you if I was talking about an event that happened and ended, like "If I had a gun when I was robbed, I would have been safer". Instead I am talking about something that continues. "If we had more guns, we would be safer". Maybe "will" is better than "would" in this situation, I dunno.

Brazil is constantly shooting itself in the fucking face because our politicians and opinion-makers look at places like Scandinavia, Switzerland and other developed nations and say "Hey, let's just copy and paste their legislation here, there's no need to change or adapt it to our reality, right?"

Nah. I am still right. In English it is not about the time, past or present. It is a grammatical conditional clause that happens to look like a past tense even that it refers to the present.
It is a classic Type 2 Conditional. The tenses it uses are building blocks, nothing more.
I know, English grammar is weird.

Same here!
We have a radio program right now where a leftie is arguing that Poland should become a part of European Federation, which should be the next progressive step of development of the EU. Of course swallowing all the ideological social engineering along the way. That the EU is collapsing and the UK already left, with Denmark likely to follow suit does not brighten his thoughts. We had an experience of being a part of totalitarian leftist utopia, still some people are still dumb. Listening to such people makes me hope for the triumph of Islam in the West.

Jebus on the organ farming. On the former well, I guess it doesn't hurt after some of the shit that's happened in the past but I wonder if metal detectors outside and carrying MP5's (or at least I assume it is) isn't a bit over the top, provided they haven't been directly threatened. Where is that anyway? Britain? Germany?
