I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but over here we don't actually have US style fraternities, so by extension we don't have fratboys either.

Climbing the mountain: You start at the ground floor, have a shot and a beer (our shelfies still better than yours). Then you go one floor up. If you ever reach the top, you climb back down. If someone in history got all the way down... well, there are always more mountains.



Strahov in Prague. It was called "the Silicone Hill" some decade back. Every computer connected via ftp and all you could share. When the cops finally raided, HDD's and whole PC's were flying outta windows.

Oh right, dorms. We have those too. they differ in culture though. I've visited ones that were a series of 4 person apartments, complete with kitchen and toilet. I imagine those lead to a more isolated experience. But the ones where I stayed were different. The one I spent most time in had quite a culture. Every newbie was required to buy beer for the whole floor, put it at the end of a hall and shout "Beer!" After which everybody interested would come out of their rooms and the newbie would give them each a beer and introduce him- or herself. And then we had hazing rituals and all sorts of fun and "fun" activities all year round.

No fraternities here in Brazil, as far as I know of. Most of the universities don't have dorms, or are really dificult to get (gotta prove you're poor and shit). But hey, Brazil is a yearlong fratboy party anyways.

I snorted a little. In Polish the meaning of the phrase "to beat a horse" has a potential for misunderstanding...

Dueling with the pink Darth Vader? Adjusting the antenna? Training you one-handed skill? Dancing with Rosie Palm? Honking your horn? Making the bald man puke? Playing the one-string guitar? Building upper-body strength? Polishing the spear? Wrestling with the python? Slamming the ham? That sort of thing?

I am actually surprised that an esteemed gentleman, such as Dragatus, knows these expressions!
