If we define history as beginning with the invention of proper writing, it began around the year -3300 in Sumeria. It's now around the year 2000. So that's 5300 years of history. 53 years then equals 1% of history.

The half point of history was then around -650, which is shortly before the downfall of the new Assyrian empire and a century before Cyrus the Great founded the first Persian empire.

The Greco-Persian wars are around 53% of history.

Alexander the Great did his conquering around the 56% mark.

The first Punic wars started somewhere around the 57% mark.

Second one started around the 58% mark.

Julius Caesar lived around the 61% mark.

The fall of the Roman empire in the west is at 71%.

In fact Rome allegedly existed in some shape or form (ranging from the original kingdom to the Byzantine empire) for about 40% of history and was a major power for about 30% of it. The time span from the first Punic war to the 4th crusade is 28% of history. For comparison, USA has been around for a mere 4%.

The 75% mark happened towards the end of the 7th century, during the time of the Ummayad Caliphate and when the Merovingian dynasty still ruled the Frankish kingdom.

The high middle ages began around the 80% mark.

Constantinople was captured by the Ottomans at the 89% mark.

Second World War is at 99%.

And the 25% mark happened around -1975, when the Minoans ruled on Crete and a century before the rise of the first Babylonian empire.

By that time the pyramids of Giza were already over 500 years old. In fact the Great Pyramid has stood for 86% of history.

There is no real point, it's just random thoughts and what I thought was an interesting way of looking at history from a bit different perspective than we normally do.

With the passing centuries the numbers will diminish, as everything grows old and is forgotten by the power of time, except for Aristotle. New events will come and last it's time. And the universe will still not give a fuck.

Eventually he'll get down to 50% and stay there for a bit before dropping down. That is assuming we don't manage to engineer our own end before that and we neither get hit by one of the many wonderful ways in which the universe can kill us.
