Yes, I've heard of the study though the article I read had a more neutral tone than those two. The way I see it the finding of the study is that all men tend to favor whatever social system would have worked better for them in the stone age instead of whatever social system would work better for them in the modern world.

What I've read about was something similar, but not exactly quite like it. A study compared men's strength level to their political opinions. The stronger the men was, the stronger he felt about his opinions, but it didn't affect wether it was right wing or left wing.
