It was to be expected: when I read that Wesps patch 7.3 got out, I downloaded it. And now I'm back to playing vampire, and I also started working on CE again. But I'm doing it at a slow pace, so I really don't know yet when I'll have anything worth a new version. I do have some ideas, but I don't know what is doable and what not. Therefore I won't announce a date or the contents of a new version. There are only two things that are certain. I will rework the "Bertram needs you" quest, and I'll continue animating people in the clubs. Cal in the Asylum will definitely have to move his ass about to earn his money Wink

One thing to keep you exited:
You probaly all got annoyed like hell by Ash when you escort him through the sewers. You can't sneak up on the hunters when a presence user is lumbering behind you, you can't shoot it out if that pretty sucker runs ahead and tries to hit them with his tiny little fists, and you can't even chop them up for real because Mr. Beau is getting in the way of your sword, or axe or whatever you're using. Evil or Very Mad
Well I found a way to tell him: Stay behind and let me do my work. I'll fetch you once I've dealt with the hunters. Cool

Oh, btw burgermeister will release on Saturday. I've been working with him behind the scenes for the last few weeks, so his version of CE1.4 will probably work very good. So I'd suggest everybody who intends to start a new game should wait and download ClanQuest 2.1.

Wow, and I was just gonna install Vampire again and start up a new game today! Oh, well, I'll wait for that ClanQuest 2.1, as you said. Wink That modification for Ash sounds AMAZING! I don't know how many times I had to reload a save, or save every ten feet, just because that wannabe brawler gets in my way! Also, while on that subject, is there any way to counter Auspex (I assume it is) that usually reveals you to the hunters? I keep on trying to be sneaky... and for what? Nothing. My best chance tends to be in the sewer drains along the walls, but it's not ideal - that's for sure.

From what I've seen from the Ash_Sewer map, the "Auspex" they use to reveal you are done by triggers (though I could be wrong). Another way for NPCs to bring you out of Obfuscate mode is through the "True_Sight" entry in the NPC's template. Since you can make custom templates, we could simply remove the triggers from the map , make new templates for the Ash Hunters only, and lower the "True_Sight" range of the hunters, meaning they could only detect you at a shorter range.

Of course we could always USE the triggers, but write a script so that if you have X level Obfuscate, they can't see you, but if you are below that number, then it works how it does now. So many options, so little time... lol

I favor the idea of using the level of Obfuscate as a pre-requisite. Perhaps level 3 would be a good bar to remain hidden? I already had the thought in the back of my mind that that may be what the game already did, but since I'm not exactly a code-monkey, I wouldn't know. Level four seems like it would be a bit difficult for a player to obtain when getting that quest (not even to Chinatown, yet), but then again, it also depends on how long they hold it off. But, regardless, I think it would be expected for them to take it on /when/ they meet Ash, which could be immediately upon arriving in Hollywood. So, back to level 3 Obfuscate - would that sound good?

Makes sense. They could always have some kind of infrared or motion sensor that trips to tell them something's there; but when they rush out, they can't see you. You could still bump into one by accident, though.

That's how I always rationalized the triggers... they have technology, so they know you passed a certain point.

Hi everybody,

just to let you know, I'm still undead. Right now I'm in the process of merging CE with the 7.5 plus patch. And while I'm on it, also make some technical changes to make later upgrades, and perhaps integrating other mods easier.

I don't know if i have mentioned this before, the tutorial is now better suited for the new disciplines. For example, while animal succulence is still useless in combat, I have planted a rat in that chamber. So it's not completely useless. For dominate and dementation, I changed it so you always use level one. And I have updated the popups a bit.

The college is running with the increased number of courses now, and the books are removed from the maps. Also I have changed the rules a bit. Now you won't loose a course due to lack of blood. And insted of just lowering your bloodpool, I have set it up so that the necessary study time is added directly to the bloodtimer. This way, a high stamina level will also decrease the bloodloss due to study time. And as in the current version, a high research feat reduces the time needed for a course.
This also made some changes for the bloodtimer necessary. Now you can get really starved. While of course you still can't drop below 1 bloodpoint, the counter won't get reset until you are sufficiently fed again. And if you are so starved, that you would theoretically be at -1 or less, you will frenzy. No chance of avoiding it.

Next step is adding the Akeem hunter quest from TFN. I'll have to see how to introduce Akeem, and what else to make of him, since there are no more skill books in CE.
Since the Nos haven quest from Bertram finally seems to run smoothly, I don't wnat to cahnge it again. And I don't think, yet another Bertram quest is a good idea.

Why are all of the books gone? Is it just because of the online school? I've always liked being able to come across a book with a few (funny) tips and then learn from it, or not be able to understand a word of it and wait to get better at your research skill. It's just a traditional thing for RPG's. And, also, I was disappointed when you couldn't sell them with (at least, to my knowledge, the most recent) Camarilla Edition. A book's a book. Why wouldn't it have any value?

(Edit: Alright, I found that thread, and it sounds much better now than just "books are scrapped," as I thought it was going to be. All the extras ought to be good. Playing the same game over and over ought to have replay value, and new things are always a good way to get that.)

Well, there won't be a lot of new quests with new items right from the start, but I need at least one or two unused items for the hunter quest. And when I do the polishing of the college, at least some of the texts from the books will be used too.
