Gangrel Disciplines in 1.5 Empty
PostSubject: Gangrel Disciplines in 1.5   Gangrel Disciplines in 1.5 EmptyWed Nov 02, 2011 2:42 pm

I can only find the manual for much older versions of CE, but they claim that the power to summon a spirit wolf with Animalism was removed. Is that still gone in 1.5? That's actually disappointing enough to make me consider not using this mod.
Also, does the Protean power still cause the screen to turn red, or was that removed? That effect is annoying as hell to me, and I'm hoping this mod might change that.

And as an aside, is 1.5 still in beta, or is it a full release now?

1.5 has changed nothing about the disciplines.
And the red screen for Protean is supposed to show you have heat vision now. It's always been in the game. Why would I change that?

The complete version released last weekend is a full version. Else I wouldn't have posted it to that many sites.

Thank you.
The issue I have with Heat Vision is that it's hard to look at and washes out pretty much any aesthetic appeal to the environment or characters, on top of being active really often.

Welcome to the forum Grimwolf!

Animalism holds strong in CE, so don't worry. You will get used to doing things differently. It is a lot of fun Laughing

Wait... You play an Animal and got yourselves a canine avatar... Another Gangrel on board, I guess? Soon there will be whole pack of us...

You can remove the red vision from Protean but the problem is that all the shadows are removed from the game too so everything looks funny. Sure it's in normal vision but it looks wrong with all the shadows missing. I don't think there is a way to change that. In my opinion the red looks better with the shadows missing than regular vision does.

But i just wanted you to know that there are mods out there that remove the red from Protean.

Heh, Gangrel has always been my favorite in P&P yet I haven't played them in Bloodlines in awhile as I think I became a Celerity addict. How good would you say the final 3 Animalism powers are for Gangrel now?

I've been playing with the Clan Quest Mod, and gave Final Nights a spin, but am about to clean install and try out 1.5. (I know, I'm behind the times. Bad me.) I've been thinking I want to try a different approach to Gangrel though and not really focus on Protean at all, and instead beef up Animalism and Fort, and hack people apart with really large melee weapons. Maybe even finally use some guns on them, heh. Free The Beast Within looks really interesting as - if I've read it correctly - I get to Frenzy, yet control my character, yet have a chance to lose control during it?

Feral, should we correct this poor fledgling in the fact that Gangrel don't use guns. *Picks at his teeth with Feral Claws.* Do we? lol!

Hm, I don't know. I prefer knife and glock, until I can get the Steyr.

Obfuscate solves the problem: they can't see you, they can't attack you. Fortitude helps as well.
And I like to get all medieval on peoples arses, but Feral Claws are OK too. Razz

I once had a very fun and entertaining glitch with TFN where I was able to use the Nodachi katana whilst in the Setite Serpentis form. Much bloodshed ensued. Twisted Evil

I think the trick is that Voraxith doesn't have a computer on which to play the game. Of course Gangrels are perfectly playable in CE 1.5.

Once I tried combat without Celerity, I realised how overrated it is. Ie getting high defense via Auspex is much better imo.
And Free the Beast Within is just awesome. Last time in CQM (I got Animalism 3 and 5 for free) I boosted Ani and For all the way up, with some claws; using it all together, I was invincible.

Hm, I never got the timing for fighting with claws right. And I don't like the animation. (No bunnyhops for me albino )
But you're right, Fortitude is in most cases more useful than potence or celerity. I'v even come to like Ventrue for their combat abilities. Fortitude with Presence is a tank. While the higher dominate levels are very good too, you don't even need them. Trance is of course very useful in a lot of situations...

Just click till they're dead.

I always am.

As much as I hate to admit that, Ventrue do have something to them...

I wouldn't say overrated, I just wouldn't claim it's far and away the best discipline either. It's potent, but more importantly it's fun. I love dancing in between bullet shots returning fire, or zipping around with potence playing ping-pong with enemies skulls.

Thanks for the replies about Animalism. I've played this game a ton of times, but I've just now started to heavily mod and run compilations, so I'm trying to get a feel for all the new changes to things like Animalism, Thaum (Blood Strike Boomerang dead?! Noooooo.), and the like.

And I agree, one of my favorite games was as a Ventrue. Walking through enemy fire, shrugging off blows, debuffing and controlling enemies, and then cracking them with a fire axe. Surprisingly stout pencil-pushers.
