Shouldn't if you are a Baali shouldn't Strauss believe that... well... you're a Tremere. I.E: Getting the Tremere Haven, and some of their dialogue? Maybe even have a new NPC in there, who is also secretly a Baali for some extra infiltration fun...

I really don't know. I know some Baali masquerade as Tremere but Strauss is not stupid, he probably tested the blood to confirm the illegal progeny. And even if he didn't, if the sire wasn't masquerading as a Tremere, then the Pc doesn't magically (sorry !) ecome Tremere :-)

Truth be told, it would make complete sense for the sire of PC to mascarade as a Tremere if he/she were Baali. An openly Baali character is to recive a haircut on the spot, by Archons if not the Prince and his Sheriff. No better luck with the Sabbat: their Inquisition is (in)famous for efficiency. So for the Final Nights most Baali are officialy Tremere... So Tremere heaven make sense. Maybe even an option to get a haircut from Strauss for a change if he finds out. That would be fun. That's entirely doable from a technical standpoint. Much dialogue re-writing and scripting would be necessary to make this happen however, but could be done. As far creating a cutscene where Strauss beheads you if he finds out your Baali is also possible. I scripted the beheading cut scene if you cheat on your stats at the beginning of the game so swapping out the prince for Strauss is doable.

What would be really fun would be to make Strauss holding the sword, but the height difference would most likely be a problem. The models would probably be off between Strauss and the sword.

Use the force? Then it wouldn't be setting the guy on fire, but strangling him from a distance.

Or get the best of both worlds! Use the force to lift the sword!

But anyways, if it's possible to have the Tremere haven for more Baali-ish flavor, how likely would the possibility of it happening be?

It might be possible, though if the upstairs room uses the same wall texture as the rest of the Chantry, then the whole thing will look designed for a Baali. Even better would be changing the Chantry to better fit the Tremere, and with that, add some hints of what a Baali haven might be like - but still not out of place in the Chantry.

That is the biggest trouble with this game. Many textures are used more than once in several places, and trying to make them fit isn't easy. With some places, it makes sense.(such as a few of the Skyline apts having the same wallpaper) But in others, it makes sense, though if you want one place to be fixed(such as the Sin Bin, trying to make it a bit more respectable...and look a little cleaner), and there is another location that is supposed to match it, either the wall texture or the floor texture, the problem is obvious once again.

You mean what's the likelihood of our team actually implementing this, or from a technical standpoint is it possible?

As far as us actually putting this into the game, I personally would rather continue working on the things I've been working on (Histories, Dialogue, adding more PC models). There's alot of good ideas out there but trouble finding time to implement them. This is one of those good ideas but may get sat on the shelf for awhile.

From a technical standpoint I could see this working well. We would just need to edit Strauss's dialogue and possibly some sound file manipulation, but very doable.

Well, as long as it's very doable, and seems to be a good idea, that would be worked out eventually... It doesn't matter to me if it's not done in the next update, just as long as eventually. This is something that's done on your own time, and with all the projects I watch from the shadows...

By the way, I should probably return to them. They are getting upset I've been talking with people again. Those shadows are pretty demanding themselves.

LOL, you and your shadows. Razz

Well, you guys pretty much have me until Nov. 11th because on that day, Skyrim comes out and I plan on joining the masses for some medieval action. I haven't played a good sword and sorcery RPG in a long time (Oblivion had the microstutter issue so I didn't play it long). VTMB and Fallout 3 take place in modern times so I'd love to play something in history.

Dude, I have no idea dude. Razz I'm not very good at roleplaying because I don't understand the rules (and why some of them are at our throats claiming we're the havenges of the apocolypes, that's what I'd like to know...)

Sorry I trailed off. Anyways, I'm not sure how to do it without looking stupid. scratch

Roleplaying is fun! I do it all the time! Or... at least I do it whenever I'm not lazy... *cough* I mean when I'm not hiding in the shadows... I really need to start doing some here. Considering I was the one who suggested the Roleplaying sub-forum...

PostSubject: Re: Baali Haven!   Baali Haven! EmptySun Oct 02, 2011 3:53 pm

I think that this haven topic should be expanded on because there are two "clan specific" havens. Would it be possible for these two havens to be used by the new clans? I also thought about the beheading cut-scene and I think it would make sense if Strauss stood there with a modified sword texture to make it look flaming or more tremere like and used "the force", as Claudia mentioned to move the re-textured sword and kill the pc. I don't think it violates the masquerade universe or would require anyone to rewrite the scene. I'm not sure if the sword can be re-textured without messing up the first cutscene though.

If you play a Samedi, you can get the Nossie haven after the quest from Akeem.

So which clan or clans gets the Tremere haven? I would like to see all the content from the Masquerade in this expansion even if it is just a little less believable that the pc (as baali) fooled the Tremere regent into thinking the pc is a Tremere ( very unlikely) . However it should be noted that Lacroix seems to believe that the baali is a Tremere so why shouldn't the other npcs? I just think that if the baali pc can't get the Tremere haven then it is likely that no other clan will, leaving it empty for the entire expansion. Perhaps a very high persuade and/or presence would be required in order to get the haven as a baali. (this would require additional dialog options)

What if Akeem mistook PC for a Tremere and slipped? Maybe some snide remark how the mighty, cunning Tremere are indeed puppets to infernalists? Followed by explanation of Clan Baali as he gives it. Assamites hate both Baali and Tremere, so it is enteirely possible.
Sire of PC had to hide behind some front beaing recognized Kindred as well. Protection of the Warlocks was surely useful for him Laughing

That makes sense,a problem is that if Akeem can recognize the Baali player then why can't other NPCs.
The PC has no idea that they're Baali so there would have to be something in the game explaining Clan Baali but without associating the PC with the Baali as that would result in the PC's execution. Possibly a random note appears in the player's mailbox/email explaining the situation, or even better a book. I'm sure there are some unused books lying around to be rewritten with some Baali history long out of date Laughing.

Now, how is the PC aware of the clan he is ? I mean, if the sire posed as Tremere... The PC should be a Caitiff, no matter what, because he never got a proper discipline training about his new nature and shit... Wink

(this doesn't need a response, it's just a problem which Troika solved with a dogma, about the innate feeling of the disciplines.. which has not been stated Very Happy)
