About reskinning and .mdl-files Empty
PostSubject: About reskinning and .mdl-files   About reskinning and .mdl-files EmptySat Jan 23, 2010 6:34 am

So, as I'm working on reskinning, I came up with an idea. My boyfriend works as a programmer/3D-modeler and currently is working on a rendering program used for previewing, so I figured it would make reskinning easier if you could preview your skin on the model without repacking it and starting the game. But for that you need the model and you need it in a workable format. I'd probably use Blender for the previewing, since I've already got it, but the problem is that the mdl-files would have to be converted into a format that the program understands.

So has anyone got any idea how to convert them? Jonathan is working on the problem, but since his job takes up already most of his time, I figured I'd ask around here. It would be a great help to reskinning, especially to a beginner like me who likes to preview the work often.

Hi,

I found this only recently in Dheus modding manual (it's in the tools directory): In the Basics chapter (I.3) he mentions, that you can download an import/export tool for Blender on PlanetVampire.

Yes, but the link is down in the document, you have to find the website via google now. It's still on Paines' site though, which is useful.

Thanks a bunch, guys! Maybe some day I'll get an easier tool for previewing vampire skins from my boyfriend. If I can get him to do it, I'll definately post a link to it Smile
