When I get the invitation, ok. When I just persuade the guard to let me in, I can still tell Mira 'I am Maria' (though not right away), but can't talk to Adam or Chris. That ok?

The intention is that you have to get the right name for your character's gender for telling any of the three your name is Victor/Maria. No matter if you got the name by talking to them or by picking up the invitation.
But it is always possible that I have overlooked something in the dialog files. They are hell to edit...
