| I can only judge from the game files on this. It seems, they initially had planned to use generations according to the p&p rules. Then they changed the rules tables so that all player accessible generations (8-13) use the 8th gen stats. But clandoc.txt says you are 10th generation. - | |

| It's not like a 7th generation vampire would be stupid enough to embrace you this way, without even trying to save his ass... | |

| Probably not. And I also doubt very much that a 7th gen vampire could get staked this way. The reflexes would be too good, even without celerity. - | |

| Unless this was a big plan to create you even if the sire has to die... oh well ! (I'm playing a 7th generation vampire on my LARP, and she cannot avoid staking and stuff.. but that's because she's a Tremere brain XD) | |

| Also rates of learning are affected by age, not generation. The game is broken on the XP front compared to pnp.
I know a fair few players who won't touch the game because they bought it on the premise it would play like pnp and were disgusted by it. What the hell did they expect though? Especially from something on an FPS oriented engine.

| Some people expect a computer game/movie to be just like the PNP game/book that it was based on. These people have limited dealings with reality, and like it that way. I understand that changes have to be made, to translate one medium into another. Hell, I even liked VtM-Redemption, despite its limitations. I just don't think it's likely that the protagonist in Bloodlines (the PC) is 13th gen, or even 10th. A fledgling who is 8th gen. is much more likely to survive than a 13th gen. of the same age. The 8th gen. has more BP, and can use more blood per turn for healing, disciplines, etc. The refences made by Andrei about the strength of your blood, and the fact LaCroix can't Dominate you at the end, indicate to me that the PC is lower gen. than 13th. (Of course, if you refuse to do LaCroix's errands during the game, he Dominates you into doing them anyway... I can't explain that, unless you somehow developed the merit 'Iron Will' during the course of the game.) The events in Bloodlines would not take place over the space of just a few nights. You never have to sleep, or stay out of the sun, although you do have to drink blood more often, thanks to the BP loss. If I were to turn Bloodlines into book format, it would take place over at least a couple of months. Also, it would be more believable if some unseen mentor (Jack, or someone else) is keeping the fledgling busy with quests meant to challenge his abilities, and help them grow quickly. Need your puppet to learn things quickly? Make sure he has access to online learning, from the 'LaCroix Foundation College'. (Yeah, like I believe LaCroix is behind that. When you receive that email in Santa Monica, LaCroix wants you dead, not more competent. More likely Jack, or even Strauss.) The same applies to those books which the PC 'conveniently' finds along the way, and all of the mystical items which boost his abilities... they are deliberately placed in his path. He is being groomed for his role, although he doesn't know it. Perhaps I'm over-analyzing. After all, computer games are designed to lead you from one quest to the next, so they doesn't lose the less intelligent players. (hehe) I guess I tend to look at this from the standpoint of turning it into a believable book or PnP game. How would I explain the PC's ability to survive challenges that would kill a normal rookie? In a book, I'd make the character 8th gen., although this wouldn't be discovered until near the end of the book. (After all, it's not a common topic among Kindred. Better to keep people guessing.) Geez, I tend to rant, don't I? I'm sure people look at all of my posts and think, "Who is this PGM1961 guy, and doesn't he have a life?" The answer, sad to say, is no. | |

| You know after main quests where the screen fades out then you are in your apartment?
That's how the game handles daytime.
Even the devs commented the game was meant to be a short duration but give a lot of gameplay hours and replayability. Troika were even hoping to be part of the sequal if Activision pulled their fingers out.

Don't worry, I'm sure there is a lot of people with no life on the forum, so you are not alone Besides, your ranting is quite interesting.
