Tremere, Strauss and No Heather

Ok, maybe this is a bug that is on the game itself..

When you save Heather and she comes back to see you in front of the Venture Tower, you can tell her to leave (and never have her as your ghoul).
But when playing Tremere, and getting your new haven over at the Chantry, you still have that line about "I have.. hm.. this friend.." causing Strauss to say he knows about your ghoul.

I do not know if this bug is still true if you do not save her or don't even talk to her

No matter what you tell her at the tower, she'll turn up in your haven. But the game doesn't check if you have been there.

I have checked out the files. If you didn't make her a ghoul, she is dead, or you have sent her away from your haven, you can't mention her to Strauss.
Can you even avoid talking to her at the tower? If that is possible, the trigger area on the map is set too small. I have never had a chance to get into the tower after the Dane without talking to Heather. Only Chance may be as a Nos, coming through the sewers. I never played one, so I don't know.

You could just be informing him of a woman you happened to feed your blood to and might stalk you rather than "I HAS A ROOMMATE " will check the dialogue actually, haven't got that far in my Tremere game.

Oh, at the Tower I was able to make her leave, with three clans (tremere included), and I never saw her again with those characters. But when Strauss gave me the Tremere Haven, she was not in the room (since she is not my ghoul) but I still got the "I have a.. er some one who likes to hang out with me" line to say.

That's weird. Every dialogue option at the tower leads to Heather turning up in your haven.

For the other clans, did you get the Skyeline haven at once or only after another quest? Perhaps there is a bug, so she doesn't return to Santa Monica. I do know she'll turn up in Skyeline even if you tell her to go away at the tower.

While playing Tremere, you cannot get the Skyline apt. Haven, even if you did the best blowjob ever to the Prince. I recall you cannot get it if you play Nos either because you'll get a Haven in the Warrens...

When I told her to leave, she didn't appear in skylines apt. (using the noclip cheat), nor in my tremere haven, nor in Santa Monica.


Edit : Even if she turns in your haven, if you haven't seen her since you told her to leave, how could your character know about having "a friend that likes to hang around..." ?
I saw Heather, I told her to leave, then I went to Strauss, he gave me the Tremere Haven, and I got the line about Heather..

I do not remember for the other clans, but even if you do not get the skyline apt because you tolf Lacroix what an ass he is, if you use the Noclip cheat, you can get inside, and talk to heather and use the computer to check your email like it was your haven. Wherever you go, if it's a possible haven, you'll find heather inside. Playing Malkavian accepting Heather as a ghoul, I've ofter used the Tremere Haven with the noclip cheat to check my email and take some blood from Heather.

I have to apologize. You are absolutely right. I've doublechecked the dialogue files today and run a few tests; there is an option to send her away that doesn't make her appear in your haven despite your order to stay away. But on the other hand the game doesn't recognize that you sent her away. If you go on with your current game, I think Heather will turn up and die in the Hallowbrook Hotel as well. If you want to avoid that, the easiest way is to set G.Heather_Gone =1 in the console.

Oh, I have never seen her die by the Sabbat (when I accept her as my ghoul and do not send her away after), I remember I've seen that she doesn't die anymore (on the unofficial patches).
But maybe I wasn't attentive enough...

With the unofficial patches you have to tell her to stay at home ("in the golden cage" as a Malk) when she first tells you about her fears. I can't tell you if there are any bugs in this part of the game since I only kept her that long once, after I heard about this option to save her from the Sabbat, to try it out. Usually I send her away as soon and friendly as I can. Preferably by dementating her.
I'll run some further tests tonight and see how the issue can best be fixed.

You guys are much nicer to Heather than I usually am, hah! Toreador is my favorite clan to play, and more often than not my characters treat her very well while she's with me...but also typically expects that she give as much of herself as she 'feels compelled to', including her life.

But even my low humanity characters take bloody revenge on the Sabbat on her behalf.

Claudia you are right, the Python function for the Hallowbrook correctly recognizes if Heather never turned up in your haven. Probably because this part was programmed by Wesp and not by Troika?
So I think the best fix is to change the regent dialogue so you can't tell him about "this friend" if she never turned up at your haven.

If you want to do it yourself: \vampire\dlg\maincharacters\regent.dlg Line 643, add $ and G.Heather_Haven == 1 $ without the $ to the other conditions for this line
