| What do you guys think of being able to play with other people online? Did anyone try it or did it flop before anyone could try?

| While I don't think it's a bad thing if a game includes it, it should NEVER be the selling point. If only because, you can be sure that most, if not everyone who buys and plays the game, will play the story part of it. You cannot be sure that everyone will or wants to play the multiplayer. For me personally, at times it can seem like mucking about with Tetris or at similar game. It's all about a score, and not much else.
Plus, if a series wasn't built with multiplayer in mind, perhaps sequels or related installments shouldn't have it either.
To be honest though, when I even heard of Bloodlines having a multiplayer mod, I thought "Why?". Even if it might make sense for the oWOD in general(given the MMO), for Bloodlines, perhaps not.

- This. Companies are shoving online games and/or always-online requirements because it's profitable, but I'm fed up with it.

| As far as I'm concerned, the main problem with multiplayer games is the other players. I always seem to attract the players that never matured past twelve years old. The respawn point campers, the noob-killers, the ones who care more about how many opponents they can amnush and teabag, rather than carry out the mission... I can never find anyone else interested in role-playing a character.
That's why, despite the fact that I really want the WODMMO to be released, I don't have very high hopes for the game.

| I'll give it a shot and double check it, I don't mind multiplayer (I really, really enjoy the Assassin's Creed franchise multiplayer games, and well, I've been a World of Warcraft player for years too). I do agree that for Bloodlines, it's probably not best suited because of the mere concept of Bloodlines. I even think companion mod be a little wtf. I really don't think the WoD is suited for general multiplayer games à la CS or catch the flag...
I don't trust players in general, which is why I want the MMO to have very strong PVE.

| If multiplayer, then only PvE. And no always-online bullshit for DRM reasons or what have you; and I also don't care much for multiplayer that doesn't have anything to do with the singleplayer campaign, so either all the way online or not at all. (Not to say that LAN parties can't be fun, but most of the games you can play are strategical in nature, and I suck at strategy ) I think MMOs work best when you can decide whether you want to have PvP at all. I'm not too fond of the idea that the WoD MMO will have permadeath (big no-no for me) and open PvP everywhere except Elysium and havens, but at least that fits the WoD, they don't include it just 'cause, lululul. Honestly, though, I think Guild Wars 2 shows a really good way to encourage teamwork for players. In events, you get XP independent from body count, and everybody has their own loot (shinies, yay) - heck, you even get XP for resurrecting dead players or NPCs, not to mention they throw achievement points out like there's no tomorrow. Get a reward system for teamplay working, and new players aren't bludgeoned for not knowing the game yet (at least not all the time). | |

| IIRC, in the PnP game itself at best when your health track is filled that you fall into torpor. Given that the people towards you stop attacking or you had an ally pull you away from battle to recover.
I believe the developers stated that it would play sand-box, theme park, and coffee shop. They also want to appeal to casual and hardcore gamers, factions, territories, political manuvering will get you farther than being the most powerful kindred in town. PvP is an option, although people may want to stick around Elysium to avoid it. Not to mention randomly attacking people outside would endanger the masquerade, so there's game consequences as well.
And I thought only the princes had the power to call blood hunts/kill disruptive players permanently?

| I personally love the single player experience with games. It's creepier and more intimate. I have a friend whom I've given great games to. Thief 3, VTM/w MODs and even Torchlight. He doesn't like to play them. "I like to play with other people..it's too lonely." I'm not lyin'. He really said that. I kind of wanted to punch him for being such a chick. LOL | |
