Bloodlines SDK Empty
PostSubject: Bloodlines SDK   Bloodlines SDK EmptySun Feb 16, 2014 12:45 pm

I just thought it might be useful to someone here...

Bloodlines SDK Bee361dfd786c38b33fc5f0f8b5a2ad0

Description:

This is an unofficial software developer's kit (SDK) for Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines, the greatest game of all time developed by Troika Games in 2004. Unfortunately, the company quickly went bust, and the official toolkits have not been released, thus leaving modmakers with nothing. As recently a lot of tech-information of the game became available, a team of enthusiasts decided to revive the modmakers movement, by developing this devkit.

At this moment the project is not fully completed, but already it can be used to do the following (with some limitations):
  • Create, edit and compile your own maps (fully-functional new game levels).
  • Create, view and compile game models (animations are still not supported properly).
  • Decompile game maps and models for editing.
  • View, manage, extract and create game archives (.vpk files).
  • View and convert game textures between tth/ttz, vtf, tga and dds formats.
  • Edit game dialogues (lipsync files are not supported yet).
  • Manage entity data in existing BSP map files (paste, delete and change entity properties).
  • Validate misc game resources.

Since Fire64 no longer engaged in the "Vampire SDK" project, I decided it would be wiser to allocate further developments on the project in a separate branch.
So after 2 years of complete calm - version 0.8.

Installation and configure:
  • Place downloaded archive's content inside the game root directory (where the main "Vampire.exe" file is).
  • If you run the SDK for the first time, it will be configured automatically.
  • After this, you can choose to unpack your game's content (to be visible in the SDK), this procedure is automatic too.
  • Now the SDK is ready. Just run "BloodlinesSDK.exe" to start your works.
  • If you have problems with game configuration and editor display settings, run the "Reset SDK Configuration" procedure from the main menu.
  • You also may override the standard game subdirectory path - use "Change Path to Game Dir" option from the SDK main menu.

Usage limitations:
  • The SDK requires the unpacked version of the game for now (maybe support for VPKs will be added later...)
  • No fully-functional support for animated models (you can view some of them but not edit with the SDK means)
  • More advanced info you can find in the SDK readme file.

(current version: 0.82)

Now, that's an evil curse, Feral. Evil or Very Mad

I don't know. I've been following the whole discussion on PV. And since I have no real intention of creating a map from scratch, or do any model editing, except from the occasional change in skin paths, I don't see any advantage of the SDK compared to the methods I know.

But apart from my personal opinion, I agree that it is a good idea to present the SDK here as well as on PV.

I don't know. Haven't heard from Psycho-A for quite some time. Neither here nor on PV.

For everybody interested, I think the SDK has improved a lot in the meantime! Version 9.3 can create cubemaps and thus reflections for something like water and I was quite surprised how easy it was to change maps in Hammer. As Malkav said, for entity fixes VPKTool is still the quicker and easier solution, but now we have a tool at hand with which to build new maps from scratch and fix bugs that we just can't any other way Smile!
