| First I laughed. Then I realized it is preatty much accurate. Thanks, Philo. You made me want to really shapeshift into a wolf and run to the woods before the reminder of my sanity is damaged beyond repair by those socially experimenting nuts... | |

That is the law of the jungle. As an Eurasian wolf ( Canis lupus lupus) I am more familiar with laws of deciduous forests, taiga or steppe... So I may hunt Jad for sustenance instead.

First one under Bolesław Chrobry, when Elbe was our border. This did not last: the state was too young to keep such outgrown an empire, too weak in structure. After the colapsein 12th century Poland, reunified by Władysław Łokietek started on a path of absorbing it's smaller neighbours. This culminated in Polish_Lithuanian Commonwealth. Unusualy, most of the aquisitions were volountary: small states (e.gMasovia, Bytów, Lębork, Livonian Order...) in danger of German, Russina or Hungarian expansion prefered to join the Union. In fact, Poland was EU 500 years before EU. Without overregulation, though. Result was as follows, by mod 17th century: As for plumbers; thars what we do in the West...

| I've heard of the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth, but I didn't know it was that big. I'm still not sure I would call it an empire though. I associate empires with conquest and one people ruling over other peoples by force. But at this point we'd just be arguing over semantics and definitions and I don't see the point. | |

Commonwealth was hardly an empire, on this you are right... I remembered a fun fact: weconquered Smoleńsk and it's area under Stefan Bathory. When Russia "liberated" the city a century later boyars criedand whined. They had privilages of Polish nobles. After liberation, they were personal property of the tzar again....
