The way I see it the problem is not so much Islam specifically as religious zeal in general. During the early 90s plenty of Muslim refugees from Bosnia came to Slovenia, but they never caused any real trouble as a group. They as a rule were also chill about their religion and the women did not bother covering themselves. Or at least the ones I got to know didn't.

That said Islam specifically does have some problems that other religions don't. Mainly because Mohammed was both a religious and a political leader and the religion is built around that assumption. So a Muslim that wants to be really strict about it and follow the scripture to the letter can never truly accept a secular government. In that regard Christianity is preferable since one can make a theological argument in favor of secularism with the whole "Give to the emperor what belongs to the emperor and give to God what belongs to god" thing.

In regard to the "liberals love Islam" thing, maybe there are crazies like that, but I strongly doubt it's a general rule. What I think is more a case is that liberals saw the general level of Islamophobia, were bombarded with comparisons between Trump and Hitler, and came to fear American Muslims would have a similar thing happen to them as German Jews so they feel the urge to defend them.

This "Fake News" crap is such a load of bullshit.

Thanks to the internet, people have much greater access to information and are able to fact-check the mainstream media outlets much more. This caused the rise of alternative news outlets that were largely independent from the big media corporations and could present the news without /with different agendas.

The decrese in popularity and trust in the mainstream media ushered them to create this Fake News boogyman. By presenting any other source of information that is not them as untrustworthy, they hope to censor and control the information people have access to.

Notice too that this Fake News "problem" only started immediatly after Hillary lost the Election.

Philo, what surprises you here? Do you know how much money they lose together with their monopoly? Not to mention political influence, which is also money.
