Thank you Divine! The more I look at the new icons, the more I like them too. I just need to recolor the blue for new announcements so they are brighter blue.

Maybe make them a little smaller? About 20% or so.

If you have something like Sai you could just tweak the illuminescence on the colour layer so it would look brighter and save completely recolouring it.
