Striving to improve yourself is great and all, but driving yourself to death is wasteful at best. What's the point of being really good at whatever if you're not alive to do it?

So strive for greatness, but be realistic about the limits of your abilities, take necessary safety precautions, and back off if it turns out you can't handle something.

Someone who dies after 10 years of improvement will have reached a lower level than someone who only improves half as fast, but stays alive and keeps on improving for 30 years.

In general I say live however you want whether or not you seek greatness, as long as it doesn't affect anybody else. Otherwise on a philosophical level I agree with Draggy; burning yourself out and dying 20 years in advance is wasteful in my view.

I agree. I got a PhD and now can't even look at the paper I write. You need a break sometimes.

Pretty uncommon, yes. It relates to the lack of humidity in deserts and how snow is formed. Draggy or Feral could tell you more.

In open desert it is cold enough pretty much every night. There is no water in the air though, so no snow falls.
