| I'm frankly more interested in the Warhammer 40K setting than in the Warhammer 40K game. | |

| So? Those are bragging rights. I can do all of the mentioned, except 9gag and "most famous".
What is it about? Yes I could search for it myself, but then I'd have to filter everything I read and only then decide whether it's good or over hyped.. I mean, what do you like about it?

For me it is the shitton of interesting lore. Multifaceted, full of internal contradictions and differing points of view... Is the Emperor a living god or a corpse on a golden throne? Does the Imperium protect humanity of stiffle it and feed the Ruinous Powers? Are other races hateful Xenos or potential allies? OneMindSyndicate on YT is a good point to start, they have a full channel on it. I would have to write whole night to even begin an introduction...

Honestly the only way to "keep up to date" with Warhammer 40k is to read every single novel and book that ever come or comes out. TL;DR: In ancient times in Earth a gigantic Mary Sue was born. A Mary Sue to rule all other Mary Sues. If you fusioned Rey from Star Wars and Superman you would still not get this much of a Mary Sue. It was the Emperor, the 3m tall god in human flesh. He would dominate the entire Earth and then create his sons, the Primarchs who were about 25% of the Mary Sue that he was, to conquer the Galaxy. The Primarchs however were stolen by the Demons machinations and split across the galaxy. After the Emperor reunited them all, the primarch Horus would join the Demons and lead a rebellion against the Emperor, who was also the worst parent in fiction, in spite of he being the patron saint of Mary Sue. The Emperor would be fatally hurt and put into stasis in a giant golden toilet. 10k years later, the Empire of Man that was created had suffered severe rot. All the Primarchs are either lost, dead or traitors, most of the core principles of the Empire had been subverted or abandoned completly, technology has stagnated and some weapons and items cannot be replaced because no one knows how they work and how to create a new ones. People love 40k because -It is like 40 years old so a lot of work has been done to it so there's a lot of lore - It's grimdark dystopian setting that deals with decay. - There are no good guys. There are plenty of crazed psychopaths though. - Everything is over the top, without it being too serious about itself - It is Heavy Metal turned into a sci fi setting
