I think Huxley was more on point than Orwell (so far), but I think both of them had merits to their fears and can be applied to the world today to various extents.

That happened to me aswell. I studied about 6 months in Switzerland, in one of it's public schools.
Everything that they taught there in 6th grade is what I've had learned here in Brazil in 4th grade. In math I felt the most screaming difference.

Granted, here I studied in private schools, one of the best of the city (because the city was small and it couldn't sustain higher priced private schools). Everyone from lower middle class or higher in Brazil is forced to send their kids to private schools if they are to have any chance in life, because the public schools in Brazil are horrible. I'm talking "there has been a hole in the roof for 3 years and they haven't fixed it yet" levels of horrible.



EDIT: Wait, is this seal saying that the final year of engineering school in USA is = to middle school in it's country? That's a bit much.

Well, a friend of my coworker who graduated from our Uni and migreted to the USA told me simillar stories when he flew home for a wedding (not Allahu Akbar one, no...).
He works at University of North Carolina or something like this.
