| -Minor Spoilers about Story.-
For some reason, at certain points of the game, the whole Santa Monica area "Resets", Mercurio is laying in the ground in front of his apartment (And if i walk close to the 1st Haven i get the cutscene of when you meet him again.), Npc's in the streets that i killed before respawn (I accidentally killed the dude that stands in front of Mercurio apartment), Bertram sends me to the Warehouse every time i finish a conversation with him (His dialogue are correct for the part of the game i'm in, still, i get warped to the Warehouse), and finally, Becket's dialogue is always the same as when you encounter him for the 1st time (Warehouse end).
Of course that this might not be gamebreaking, i could just continue playing ignoring those NPC's, but i thought i should post it.
I only have installed the Official 1.2 patch and the 1.4 CE. This happened to all the chars i tried, and at different point of the games.
Malkavian - China Town (After escaping from the Syndicate) Nosferatu - Downtown (After Elizabeth Dane) Ventrue - Downtown (Before Elizabeth Dane) Tremere - Santa Monica (After the Haunted Hotel)
With the Nosferatu i tried just re-making the whole quests, i used the console to create another Astrolite and finished the Warehouse quest, i did it and went to check the NPC's that could have an issue with this (Namely, Lacroix) and his dialogues were about the Elizabeth Dane quest (And nop, i couldn't do that quest without using the console and resetting my char, as far as i know of). I thought that maybe going on with the original story (I was sent to the Malkavian Manor, and i had the option in the map to go there) could fix the issue (Spcially because i dind't had those quests on Log) so i tried. Finished the Manor, went with Lacroix and his dialogues were fixed. I thought everything had been solved, until i finished the Museum and Beckett started talking about the Warehouse (Same Dialogue as in the end of that quest). I tried going again to Santa Monica to see if something wrong was happening and i saw that the Loop had started again (Mercurio on the ground, Bertram tping me to the Warehouse, etc).

| Hm, for some reason the story state seems to get reset in your game. But I have no idea as to what causes this. What about Trip? Did you have to persuade him to sell you weapons every time you entered in the Santa Monica part, or only the first time? - | |

| Only the first time.
Other thing that happened was Heather in front of the Venture Tower instead of on my Haven (Skyline Haven). Her dialogues were the same there than in the Haven tho.

| Basically all the issues you describe are symptoms of the same problem. The Story State variable gets reset for some reason. I only have one idea as to what causes it. There has to be a problem with you santa monica hub map file. - P.S. For further discussion, I'll send you a PM | |

| But what should destroy/change the SM hub file? It can't just change without some doing to the game.. like another mod or console map command etc | |

| Hmmm, the only mod i installed was the CE1.4, and i only used the Console AFTER the bug.
I dind't modified anything in game, except for a Skin. (I don't like the Malkavian Male basic skin!)
Edit: I don't know if this could have something to do with it, but i commonly backup my savefiles a lot. Like, i cut and copy them somewhere else, and start new savefiles from there (I do that every 2-3 main storyline quests)
Edit 2: Tried it again, and got the same thing! now it started with my Haven, i had to write my email pass again, got another 100 from Mercurio and another pill bottle. Just after i delivered the Werewolf Blood quest. (In Main storyline, after the Hotel, before the painting slicing.)

| Hm, I checked your map file; it's o.k. There is another thing i thought about: Did these troubles appear after installing the patch and continuing a running game? I didn't think tis could cause problems, but maybe that's it. In that case, there is one possible solution to avoid most of the troubles you experienced. Go back to the last save file before your first revisit in Santa Monica after installing the patch. Open the console and enter "G.Story_State" without the "" before you talk to the cabbie or activate the sewer travel map. Remember the number shown. Immediately after your arrival in SM, reopen the console and enter G.Story_State = ##, where ## is the number you got before. This should take care of most problems, except for Mercurio and the cutscene. If it's not that either, I really run out of ideas. - | |

| Tried again, and i found something. After having a perfect no-bugs game, i deleted all my save files (With the game open) and saved again. Then went to Santa Monica and there was Mercurio in the ground, and after that i went to Downtown and Heather was in front of the Venture tower (And i was already on China Town.)
So, it seems the way i delete my save files is what was causing my error. Embarrasing huh! i'll keep on playing to see if anything else happends! Thanks for all the help, Malkav!.

| Do you mean deleted the save files from the game directory while the game was open or deleted them using the option in the game?
If from the game directory...
Yes that is going to give a massive headache because the data is still in use and still, as far as the game is concerned - in a stored location it can get to.
I'd thought I'd broken one of my games recently, kept saying it couldn't find one of the core files - then realised I'd left it open in an editor which is why it couldn't be accessed.

| Yeah, with the game open. That was exactly my issue, i finished the game a couple hours ago without experiencing any other kind of bug/crash/anything. So... yeah... was my own fault! | |

| You bloody bastard! Keep me thinking, what error I might have overlooked for hours on end. And then it's your own stupidity... Well, it all worked out. That's the main thing. - | |
