These days it's Kampfpanzer for the big ones with turret and then there are Jagdpanzer, Schützenpanzer...

I assume so as they weren't around when your grandparents spoke german. Basically it's a light tank with only a 20 mm gun for transporting infantry.

I'm guessing whoever made the picture just used google translate to look up "tank" in various languages and that's how the mistake crept in.
