| Randomly browsing the net, came across this notice where some anime group made a kickstarter fund to make a sequel for their show...they reached their net goal in 5 hours time, then eventually made so much they could even make figurines to sell lol...
So my idea is this: can Kickstarter be used to help make a VtMB sequel, like a real one? I've heard lots of crazy ideas on kickstarter, but this one reminded me of how it might relate to something I'm sure every VtMB fan has always imagined: VtMB 2.0.
Anyone have any thoughts/ideas on this?

| VtMB 2 would make me chase my tail and yip, but I don't think it's possible. | |

| With World of Darkness MMO coming in a few years, isn't there gonna be some legal/copyright issues? | |

| I love this idea personally and I would be the first to jump on board to help. Problem is that the Kickstarter team would need to acquire the IP in order to call it "Vampire the Masquerade" which I believe is now owned by CCP, the developers of the soon to come MMO.
The only way I could see this happening would be for the team to develop the game but call it something else. We couldn't use clans names, discipline power names, etc... for fear of being sued. It would be difficult.

| It's been tried by Stephen Webb, and he had great plans. Not worked. (more infos : http://planet-vampire.net/forum/index.php?board=56.0 ) | |

| Even if you could get the IP, a direct sequel would be... troublesome from a story perspective. Gehenna, etc.
A spiritual successor, set in another city with a whole new cast of elders to piss off... now we're talking.
But I can't see CCP/White-Wolf, which are a single entity, parting with the rights.

| What Gehenna are you speaking about ? Bloodlines had no Gehenna ending. C4 ain't no Gehenna bro !
So you know, the new grand masquerade, supported by CCP and WW, for the launch of the new LARP rules for Masquerade, is set today, with Strauss as a Prince. Doing "what happens after Lacroix's princedom, regardless of the ending chosen", is totally doable.

| Not to mention how Gehenna can, for all intents and purposes, both be averted entirely and delayed depending on who tells the story. | |

| To me, Gehenna was always a question of "How do we solve the vampire overpopulation problem before the Antediluvians (or the powers that be) are forced to step in and do it for us?" Because every time there was a vampire catastrophe, that was the result - the fall of the 1st and 2nd Cities, Carthage, etc. resulted in drastic reductions in vampire population, with the youngest/highest generation vampires dying first.
So Gehenna was a real threat, which had happened before; but not the end of the world... unless you happened to be one of those high generation cannon fodder who died. Thin bloods are a very real sign that the shit is about to hit the fan, because they only appear when vamps get stupid and start Embracing without any controls.

So you actually advocate the Periodic Gehenna Theory? I must admit I am quite in agreement with it. It provides a repetitive solution to Cainite repetitive overpopulation problem.

But if you're close enough, the results can be considered similar... - Quote :

Doing "what happens after Lacroix's princedom, regardless of the ending chosen", is totally doable. You might need a new pc however, if you've chosen to open the old box yourself, or stayed loyal to the thing with the X in the name... For the Gehenna discussion, it's just as Becket says, we don't need the Antediluvians to acchieve this goal... -

| Yep. I forgot there are two things with an X in the name. Hm, the Pacific may be boring, but for a vampire probably less final than C4. So what do we have for a follow up? Max, Isaak, Gary, and maybe Bruno... And of course at least one of the weird sisters. - | |

| Which one? The one the pc made very slim in the observatory door, or the one that Nines turned into a sofa cushion? - | |

- Ummm... Like the rest of the pack...? I forgot about crushing that poor wolf with the doors. I need to play the game again.

That depends how deep it is at the point where you get dropped off. The pressure in the depths of the sea can grow extremely high and Vampires can be killed by bashing damage, if there's enough of it. From the 20th anniversary rules: - Quote :
- An incapacitated or torpid vampire may also be sent to Final Death through massive amounts of bashing or lethal trauma (decapitated, trapped under a 10-ton rock, fed into a wood chipper, caught at ground zero of an explosion, crushed by deep-sea pressure, etc.).
