I long harbored the idea that the immigrants are a gambit by the left to keep voters while the native population shifts to center or right wing competition, for reasons including but not limited to inadequate economic growth (i. e. lack of jobs) and lack of security. Not to mention the feeling of being ignored in the decision making process. What do you think?

On the one hand I can see it, but on the other it also seems counter-productive since one of the reasons some people are going right is because of the reckless immigration policies and "ipad refugees" who are exploiting the system; so drawing people in would just reinforce that further. Then again, politicians these days..
But yeah I donno, I don't think you're wrong when you say there's a lack of jobs and stuff which makes people shift right (when there's a left government and vice versa); but I don't think going right will help either, establishment politics is fucked on both ends of the spectrum almost regardless of where you go.
Hopefully the political talk won't cause a shitstorm this time
