| First of all I want you to know that Zer0 sent me! I have a problem with my the final nights 1.2 install. The game is somehow missing portions and I have no idea how to fix it. Here is a picture on it: https://2img.net/h/i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss211/Vampkaze/Vampire.jpg You can check out mine and zer0's conversation which pretty much explains everything over here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/vtm-the-final-nights/page/2#comments This is my first mod that I have installed so I don't really know if I have installed it correctly so I'll tell you step by step how I did it. First I installed clean copy of my Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines from my CD. Then I installed this mod on that same folder. After that I went to the tools folder and ran ResPatch and Set 16:9 resolutions and patched it. That's pretty much it I don't know if there should have been anything else that I should have done since the Install64 can't find the Vampire - Masquerade Bloodlines.msi file. I hope you guys can help and if you want any more info from me just ask! | |

| I tried helping this guy out over at ModDB but since I've never used the Respatch mod I wasn't sure how to tell him, so I recommended he come over to you fine bloodsuckers for help. Anyone have this issue ever? Here's the original correspondence. 7Moppe: I installed this mod like it was supposed to, I did respatch and when I open the game, the upper part is missing. Here is the picture for it: I577.photobucket.com I'm using 1280x720 and I also tried 1366x768 and it didn't work. I'm just wondering that my resolution says 1280x720x32, does it mean that it uses 32bit system then? I installed this game on cd and I have no idea how to use that install64 since it always says Vampire - The Masquerade Bloodlines.msi - File not found, or file access error! I have tried to search all around the internet how to fix this, but I haven't even found anyone who has the similar problem that I do. Maybe the upper part is missing, because for some reason the game is still on 3:4 aspect ratio even though it's using 16:9 I don't know. I'm using windows 7 64bit version, and I hope you guys can help me so I can start streaming this game! Zer0morph Apr 21 2014, 12:31pm replied: Online It's missing the top and bottom portions of the game. Have you tried playing in full screen mode instead of windowed mode? Maybe that's the issue. I don't play in Widescreen and never have since it stretches part of the hub. Let me know if playing in full screen helps. 7Moppe Apr 21 2014, 2:46pm replied: Wow unbelievable, I can't run it in full screen anymore... I deleted the -windowed shortcut from my launch file and it still runs in windowed mode. I even used the engine.dll backup file but it still runs it in windowed mode. Any ideas how to reset it back to full screen mode? Zer0morph Apr 22 2014, 1:46am replied: Online By default it should run in full screen. I did some googling but nothing relevant so far. I'll let you know if I come up with something. 7Moppe 22hours 54mins ago replied:Alright I fixed that problem by adding -fullscreen on my shortcut, but it's still missing top and bottom portions. When I launch the game on full screen my tv says that it is switched to 640x480 resolution but in game's options it clearly shows that I am running on 1280x720x32. So I really believe that it is somehow stuck in 3:4 aspect ratio and it just stretches the screen to 1280x720 resolution and leaves all that doesn't fit on that window out of screen. That is my best guess on what's happening, but I have no idea what is causing it and how to fix it. If you have any idea what I can do to make it work, please tell me. Zer0morph 20hours 39mins ago replied: Online I think you're right, it sounds like it's still in 3:4 aspect ratio. Because I've never used the widescreen mod I'm a terrible person to ask about this, however many of the guys who play in widescreen also hang out on our official forum at www.camarillaedition.darkbb.com. Head over there and create an quick account and ask your question in the TFN section. It's a very active forum with a good 40 players visiting daily and they love to help people struggling with issues. I'm sure one of them has a solution for you. Tell em' Zer0 sent you and they'll fix you right up. | |

Add -window in the proprieties of your .exe shortcut Didn't work, actually I tried adding -windowed on it again and even that doesn't work, it still runs it in full screen.

| Delete shortcut, create new one?
Are you sure the respatch was "applied" to the game? IIRC, the respatch must target the vampire subfolder.
Damn <_<

| I always run it 4:3 tho, but that's because I'm too lazy to fit the ratio to my screen | |

I did delete the shortcut and made a new one, but it still didn't work. And I have applied the respatch to Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines folder. If I try to apply it to the vampire subfolder it says "Could not find D:\Lataukset\Vampire the Masquerade Bloodline\Vampire\Vampire\cl_dlls\" And I'm pretty sure the respatch was applied since I can choose 1280x720x32 resolution on game's video options.

| Just curious, what happens when you DON'T apply the respatch and just play the game normally? Is the top and bottom still cutoff? | |

I'm not sure if I tried to play the game before executing the respatch and since I didn't save any backups I can't really test it anymore. I will install the whole game again and this time I will just install the original Vampire game, then this mod and just try it out. I will do that tomorrow and I will tell you the results then.

| Since I usually play vampire with my old 4/3 monitor, I've never tested before. But it seems that using ResPatch always cuts off the top and bottom of backgroung pictures like the menue, charactersheet, and loading screen. You just don't see it so drastically with other patches/mods. They don't have the title that close to the screen top and no logos at the bottom. If you don't use ResPatch, you get the backgrounds right, but the models ingame are stretched out and you end up with near unreadable texts and stumpy people. I believe the best solutuion would be to run it windowed and force the window to a size that fits 4/3 resolution. But I don't know how to acchieve this. - | |

Then I suggest you make a copy of the whole bloodlinse folder including all files and subdirectories, and install the mod on this copy. Then you don't have to un- and reinstall the whole game every time you need to reinstall a mod. Plus you can have more than one copy and so have different patches/mods available. -

- Yeah thanks for that I was really unsure how to actually have the original and the modded one at the same time, I would have never guessed that it was that simple. - Childe of Malkav wrote:

If you find out some kind of way to stretch the window to fit that 4:3 resolution please let me know. - Childe of Malkav wrote:

So it also cuts top and bottom in the gameplay too? Just asking to be sure, it has been so much time since I have played this game so I don't remember what there should be on top and bottom. And one more question, is there anything useful or important on those parts that are cut off, could I just play the game without them?

| AFAIK ingame it only changes the scaling of the models and the field of view. So nothing cut off but you have to look up and down a bit more in widescreen resolution. As I said, backgrounds are cut or --as in the DMP video tapes-- centered and repeated at the edges. So instead of one skull you get a complete skull at the center and a half one on each side in widescreen. - | |

| I tried the respatch and was pretty disappointed in what I saw. All sorts of stuff were stretched and it drove me nuts so I went out and bought a 19" flatscreen in the 4:3 format JUST to play Bloodlines. I know it sounds crazy but it bothered me that much and Bloodlines is THAT good of a game.
That was my solution to widescreen, lol. Expensive, around $150, but well worth it. I've put a million hours into modding and playing TFN on that monitor.
