We run a Mass Spectrometer on Windows XP at the lab... Well. unless it crashes or hangs up.
As for climate change, Israel, Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan keep staying strong... Syria is not that badly affected, too: they have rain catching mountains in the west and dams in the east. With rising temperatures, they may get more rain actually, not less, just like Poland. Retention and irrigation system there sucks though, also like in Poland. Planning in 5 year plans, you know.
As for the active conflict, maybe if woman and children were evacuated and men stayed to fight it could have been ended by now. The brave Islamic warriors idle in Germany while their women die, though. Even my Arab friends consider them stinky cowards...
Besides, we had Soviet Army here in Poland for over 45 years here. Desertification is like a nun's fart compared to a thunderstorm in comparison to that. All our remaining industry, not to mention the German leftovers, was "evacuated" by our so called liberators...As my grandma put it, at least the Germans didn't rape so much and mostly weren't killing people to steal their watches... And if they decided to do it, at least it was much better organized with fewer side-losses.
Tito saved former Yugoslavia from such fate, while Patton unwittingly saved the Czech and Slovaks...

Yup. He went as far as Prague, not knowing it was to be "liberated" by Uncle Josif. So Both American and Soviet troops had to withdraw from Chechoslovakia after the war. It was the only country Moscow didn't "forget" to pull their army and political police out of after the war. There were native counterparts, but it was not as bad.
As for climate change, heat is to threten human health c. one summer per decade, as Mr. Powell wrote. So it is sensational journalism with a bit of science. As long as Middle East uses agricultural technology from Iron Age, it will be ineffective. Rising temperatures make it worse, to be sure. Root causes run much deeper. USA has similar problems in the South West region, yet they manage. Israel has booming agriculture in the same deserts Jordan has no idea how to use. I could upload a video on Jordan and Ethiopia when I get home. They are mostly guilty to themselves, with decades of greedy deforestration and overgrazing, both of wich contribute to rising temperatures.
True tragedy is the Nile Delta, though. After the construction of Assad Dam and Merowe Dam it recives next to no silt. Delta was always sinking, but losses were made up in fresh deposits. https://www.alarabiya.net/articles/2010/01/28/98672.html http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0169555X08005011

He forgot to stop in Pilsen? Must have been the beer. Nevertheless, people keep forgetting they just sat and said, allright, lets divide our sphere of influence. All part of the plan. Also, I noticed I use the word 'also' too much, and russians not having an army here was the reason for the 'invite letter' of '68. Slovakia becoming part of Czecho- again and their fake uprising is the only reason they did not face reparations. Saved them again. They are always so grateful for that, they split in '93. And always love us. #offtopic

Things change, that is certain. And I have to admit, Dragy almost had me going for the 'climate change' hoax. The problem is local. The problem is education and not enough nationalism. Read a beautiful article on this, by some uni professor. Everything is profit oriented with disregard for local customs and conditions. Kids are taught how the polar bears suffer while cannot tell a sparrow apart from a falcon. #exaggeration You gotta love your country to know your country, to know the old immutable laws of nature, to bring back marshes and groves, to stop using american chemical fertilisers and use manure instead. You gotta know your shit!

Same problem with Silesians and Kashube hier in Polen... They never managed to form states for themselves so they teach us how to run Poland. Although Frau Merkel was very happy with our Kashube Prime Minister. German banks and industry too...

Don't get me started on Agri students not able to tell sandy soil apart from clay, not to mention not caring why this is important... As for Egypt, Aswan dam proves to be as much of a Soviet succes as Aral Sea melioration project:

That was Kara who posted all those links. But the climate actually is changing and temperatures actually are rising. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
Also if the problem is that the various Arab nations can't grow food because they have outdated farming technology, that's not going to change the consequences. They're more likely to abandon the land as "unlivable" than to upgrade their technology. If they were going to do the latter they would've done it by now.

Let's not forget: your heart-rate drops by 3-8 BPM when you defecate. This is after accounting for the normal decrease of sitting or squatting down.
