Possibility of a lite edition? Empty
PostSubject: Possibility of a lite edition?   Possibility of a lite edition? EmptyMon Sep 20, 2010 11:03 pm

Hey there fellow kindred, you've got a fledgling here.

First, a big heap of thanks to the creators of the mod. CE is by far the one mod that changes gaming experience but doesn't it stretch it too much. The concept of "blood loss" greatly changed the way I play, role-playing and power-playing wise.

Thing is, I've got a weak system. I can run Bloodlines but I've got to disable and lower so many things for the sake of performance. The vanilla did fine, actually, load times were a breeze when I tweaked my system.

However, when I installed CE it reverted to the way I played the game before the system tweaks. Lags were more often and loading times became quite longer again.

Which leads me to this question : Is there a way to install CE with just minimum *but* important changes?

Thanks for your time. Hope I could get a reply.

My computer sucks so bad, I know that the blood lord/god or whatever is a tremere using the blood skin thingy. Yea, it has gaps in it.

Well, I've got 1.7 Ghz with 512 MB RAM.

Most of the long loading times occur in the hub areas, and when I load a game from the main menu during the start. The mission maps load faster than the hub ones. To give you a time frame, hub areas can reach up to 10 minutes while mission maps, give or take, around 3 minutes.

Though the mission areas load longer if I've been playing for almost 3 hours straight, but I guess that's expected.

The problem is: to make any mod, you have to unpack the game archives. And that makes for more files to load and thus longer loading times. So there isn't much you can do. Even just using the bloodtimer and nothing else would mean, unpacking and editing every single map file in the game. So if you want to use Wesps patches or any of the mods, you will have this issue.
In this respect, bloodlines modding is very different from say oblivion modding. As a result there are a lot less bloodlines mods than oblivion mods. But for the same reason there is a lot less crap.

So I guess the long load times with modding Bloodlines comes with the engine and its basic structure then? Thanks for the explanation, I suppose I've got no choice but to cut myself a check and get a system with a higher performance capability.

Cheers!
