| Hey All! So, it's been a few years since I've last played this game and I recently decided to reinstall, while I was looking for any new patches I came across the Camarilla Edition, which seems just plain awesome! Thinking it would be worth it to have a little more realism in my game, I downloaded the merged executable (for the 1.4, not the 1.4.02 patch). I downloaded said file to my desktop. Tried to make it run the installation (over a fresh install of th base game), it took me as far as the "Areyou sure you want this program to make changes on your hard drive?" bubble, which I clicked yes. The cursor shows the computer is processing for maybe three seconds, and then the process for the install quits. I had my firewall down and administrative privileges. Maybe I'm just having an idiot moment, but I'd really like to play your version of the game, and any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you | |

| OK, figured out the problem. For some reason the installer from FileFront is faulty. I suggest if any one is to download it to put up the firewalls and go through ModDb, this installer works. | |

| Alright, I'm hijacking this thread because I'm testing something on my PC and it involves adding the Camarilla Edition to Bloodlines. Everything seems to be going well, except for one rather annoying problem. I'm trying to extract the 02patch, but all I get is a huge list of errors and a failure message. This has happened before, and it's seriously starting to piss me off.
So, I would be immensely grateful if someone can help me figure out what the heck is going on.

| When I first got windows 7 it had a lot of security and administrator access issues, I suggest checking to make sure all users on the computer have all administrator privileges. The second issue might be in the Vampire- Bloodlines file, try making it not read only in properties, same goes for the patch folder.
I hope that works, if not there's an underlying issue, and it'd be past my range of usefullness. Good Luck!

| I checked the Read-Only thing, and here's something that has me stumped. Everytime I unclick the Read-Only option, apply it, get out then back it, it's already back to Read-Only. I tried doing it, then extracting right after, but still failure. ....is this normal? | |

| I wish I could help but I don't have a copy of Windows 7 yet, I'm still using XP-32 bit. I've played Bloodlines (CE) on XP-64bit as well so I could be of assistance on that, but I don't have Vista or 7 yet. Sorry guys...
I've heard of the "Administrator Rights" not being enabled by default in 7 like it was in XP (which is stupid) but I don't know how that affects Bloodlines.

| You havent lost much not having Vista or Win 7, I could tell you that. The best thing with them is to get manual in hand and go step by step checking what rights do you exectly need. Not fun, I know... | |

| It seems like it. Here at work we are rolling out Windows 7 and to be honest, I'm not impressed. Basically all they did was move stuff around making things hard to find, and makes users jump through extra hoops to get anything done, from what they did in XP. I still think XP is hands down the best OS I've ever used (Besides DOS), and will continue using it as long as I can.
The only thing better about Windows 7 are the gaming benchmarks are higher across the board for newer games, they perform better on 7, other than that I personally think it sucks, lol.

| Besides the pain in the butt setup, I was reluctant at first to get 7, but now that I have it I wouldn't go back personally. I really like the window organization and that it doesn't require tweaking and a restart to hook it up to the TV through HDMI in order for the sound to come from the TV. Also I haven't had it crash on me yet (which as a heavy computer user because of CS classes, is incredible).
Back on sort of topic. The Security Permission defaults are annoying but they can be gotten around, and you can adjust the interface to resemble XP. Overall unless you're editing the registry without knowing what you're doing, it's an incredibly reliable system, and can be tweaked specifically (which is why I'd get windows over macintosh any day). It doesn't tailor itself to the user, the user tailors it manually so it doesn't screw up nearly as often. (\end rant).

| Perhaps the issue is with WinRAR? Is there a more reliable program? | |

| Possibly, I've never bought winRAR but I've used the trial edition (which is over after 40 days). I use a thing called Ken Ward's Zipper, it's kind of primitive looking, but it gets the job done. | |

| Err, I'm not sure I'm not mistaken with this, but for packing (and opening already packed) folders or other stuff, I use 7-zip. It's freeware and I've never had any problems with it yet. And it can open enough package types so I think it's at least worth a try. Take a look if you want to: Just klick here. | |

| I have packed it with 7zip. That's open source software, so you can download and use it without worrying about trial times etc. Sometimes I get problems with rar archives, but zip and their own archive format never gave me any troubles. For the unpacking troubles, you can try unpacking into a neutral directory and then manually copy the files into your bloodlines folder. - | |
