| I know it doesn't really harm the undead, but why are there so many smoking kindred? xd | |

| Smoking has been notably popular for at least a couple hundred years, a big enough span for many kindred to have picked up the habit in their living days. Because it becomes a habit, the psychological properties of this habit should theoretically stick, even after the embrace has rendered taking smoke for the nicotine (or whatever drug) useless. Think of it as a funny habitual tick that even vampires have trouble thinking to quit. | |

| It also may not help that the Hunger gives most vampires with idle mouths an oral fixation, a need to have a cigarette hanging on their lip, or a toothpick to chew at. You might notice a bunch of such pacifying items in hand while interacting with some kindred. | |

| Plus many do it for the same reasons they did when they were alive... to look cool and tough. Although this effect can be ruined if you flinch at the match. LOL
Also, in cold weather, a puff of cigarette smoke can hide the fact your breath is not warm... no puff of steam with every breath, unless you're smoking.
Duncan would rather spend some blood and warm his body for a while.

This. xDD There are a number of pros to being an undead smoker, as we have outlined. Attracting kine that want to bum a cigarette is always a possibility, in a social setting, for yet another example.

| Many reasons why most of my Kindred characters have been smokers. But the Masquerade is certainly a big one. | |

| Since we're on the topic, fear of fire is one reason you may not see a kindred allowing another to light their smoke. Someone wielding a flame inches from your nose? Talk about vulnerability. | |

| Let me warn you : I have made kindred go into rotschreck because some loud mouth was making gestures with a cigarette in hand, and hence acting threateningly towards the kindred instincts But many kindred kept smoking because it's great or the masquerade and until quite recentl it was considered goo or your health. They still consider it a good habit And 2/3 of the French population smokes anyway. | |

| I always thought the frenzy check for lighting a cigarette was a bit silly. Certainly some unique situations may call for it, and I could certainly see roleplaying uneasiness toward someone lighting a cigarette for a Kindred, but overall, I would think it to be such a simple and common task that an actual roll was uncalled for - with the way rolls are in the Storyteller system, even with such a low difficulty, the risk of frenzy would be too common to even allow for Kindred being allowed to smoke per the Masquerade. | |

| The smoking itself and smoking ; no I don't roll it, although younger kindred still adapting to the Beast will have their special "beast says it's danger..." and maybe flinch a little. That's something I love about Requiem, the basic gut reaction to older vampires :p But mortals or anything threatening kindred with fire, being with only a lighted up cigarette, in a stressful situation, and there goes the rotschreck | |

Mike likes doing windmills with lit cigarettes in between his fingers! But to answer the question my character smoked when she was mortal, and carried it on into her immortality. She doesn't need to do it any more but likes to.

| Cherry and Vanilla are just two names for bright or robust bodied tobaccos. Cx All others literally have flavors added, though. 0:
Carrion seems like she'd like cherry best, for some reason.

| Well, I've always been very sensitive to smoke, maybe that's why I notice it so much. | |

Carrion seems like she'd like cherry best, for some reason. *sighs* If only there was a coffee one, she'd jump on that. - Bloodywolf wrote:
