Which Unofficial Patch

That. Which one was used? I know it was 6.5, but was it the Plus version or the Regular? The reason I ask, is I am rather fond of my little ghoul Heather and would prefer she not be offed by some Sabbat assholes.

LOL, CE 1.1 is merged with 6.5 BASIC however we used some of the features of PLUS, like the Tremere limited Dominate dialogue.

Right then. I don't suppose there is an alternate version?

I doubt there is, but is there any way to fix my slight problem? Like installing the Plus patch over the CE 1.1 install? I hate to lose her, but I can deal with it if it would brake the game.

Your best bet is too make the game vanilla again (no patches installed), do that either by uninstalling and reinstalling, or uninstalling CE 1.1 (assuming you didn't add any other mods)...

Either way take the game back to vanilla, then install UP 6.5 PLUS, then CE 1.1 on top of it. Doing it this way should not hurt CE 1.1 in anyway, I can't garauntee the PLUS portion will work perfectly as CE 1.1 will certainly overwrite some PLUS stuff, but there's a good chance you will be able to play CE 1.1 and keep your ghoul too!

If you decide to try it out, let me know if it worked so we can help others.

Sounds good. Thanks for the tip. I only installed CE 1.1 this time around, so I'll uninstall that (after making backups) and then do as you suggest. I'll let you know how it goes.

Sadly, this fix didn't work, at least for the ghoul aspect and the effect I was desiring. Apparently, CE 1.1 effectively overwrites whatever it is the Plus version of 6.5 adds. A bit disheartening. Ah well. It isn't a big issue and was more of a personal preference thing. Still, having Plus compatibility might be something to look into if it isn't too terribly time consuming. I don't know jack about modding, so I couldn't and won't try to make a judgment like that. If you do happen to make a Plus compatible patch or version, let me know! XD

I figure for the sake of testing things out, I will continue to play through using the 'Plus' version that may or may not have been totally overwritten. Simply because the ghoul section wasn't functioning, doesn't mean some other aspects may not be working. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any holdovers. Thanks anyway!

If you tell me exactly what is supposed to happen with your ghoul I could try to restore the content for CE 1.2. I didn't know Heather gets shot up by Sabbat, explain that to me and what the differences are between BASIC and PLUS regarding this.

In Basic what happens is she mentions in a conversation that she thought she was being followed. I believe this is the second conversation, but I am not entirely sure. Original options are to 'be careful' to 'shoot them in the head' and to 'go back to her life'. The first two result in her being kidnapped by the Sabbat and when you do the hotel mission, they are holding her captive and gun her down to piss you off. In Plus, there is a fourth dialog choice which tells her to 'stay inside'. This results in the Sabbat not finding her and you can see her later in the game when she would normally be dead.

Oh dude thats awesome I didn't know any of this. I'll see what it takes (besides just dialogue) to make that happen, if Wesp will get back to me.

Yeah, that would be sweet. I am attached to Heather, but I don't like her enough to let her go, and thus save her life. This is mainly because she supplies you with money, body armor, blood, and more, so long as she is with you. XD

I agree, it would be nice to have the UO plus content in CE 1.2 if it's possible.

What are the differences between PLUS and BASIC? I don't know much about PLUS as I've never played it and I don't want content in CE that I don't know about. That and I don't know how CE would react with PLUS because I don't know what PLUS changes.

Well, it adds the Dragon Breath (sawed-off shotgun with phosphorous rounds), for example, and give you the option to save Heather from being killed by the Sabbat. There is a quest for Mitnick I think and some other things. Most of the stuff needs balancing, though.

Yeah, the shotgun is one of my favorites. Vamp-Toaster Mk. 3 pretty much. You don't get it till later in the game, so it evens out pretty well. Ammo is not cheap though. O_o

This is what it says on wikipedia:

# 6.5: "Basic" installation, that mainly applies bugfixes and restored content with relatively minor impact on the game play.
# 6.5: The optional "plus" version applies further changes like adding new weapons, disciplines, occult items, quest items, and action sequences, based on content left over from development hidden in the installed game files.

I guess a few changes in plus may contradict the changes in CE, but if it's not too much work maybe you could filter those out and still have some of the extra plus content in CE. Just a thought.

Ok I will see what I can do when I get everything else done, no garauntees the content from PLUS will make it in CE 1.2. I am working with Wesp on getting the Heather saving from Sabbat thing worked out though, if he works with me on it and I can get it working ok, I will definately put that in CE 1.2.

Sweet. In the meantime, I suppose I shall simply make a 'Save Heather' save and keep playing.

Ok Wesp and I got it figured out however I still need to test it to make sure it works. What point in the game do you get the option to tell Heather to stay indoors?

Well it depends on how often you feed her your blood and how soon she understands you are a vampire. For me it occurred after the Museum mission and she had brought me 'dinner' in the form of a dude locked in the bathroom. Around that general time frame is a good place to start looking. Thanks again for all the help!

PS. Any chance you can plug in the Dragon's Breath shotgun too? O_o
