| Without counting overcheated disciplines like Thaumaturgy... I'd go with Auspex, Presence and Fortitude, as the most versatile choice according to the situations If you're going for the stealth killer in the dark that is not seen by its victims that can't react, go for Obfuscate, Celerity, Potence. | |

| I assume we're talking about Bloodlines?
I think Fortitude + (CE/TFN)Presence + Potence is a nearly unstoppable tank. Melee of course...

| No, we're speaking generally. Though Bloodlines insight is welcome - Claudia wrote:

I've heard Obfuscate alone is enough for stealth kills, ambush is a bitch; I like Auspex Fortitude Presence... elaborate

I would think this build would have no weak points, and would VERY tough to kill. A bit weak on the offensive though.

| I'd go for the stealth killer with obfuscate and celerity. For the third one, I'd either take Auspex to find my victim, or presence to weaken them, if I can't snipe or backstab. - | |

| Auspex, Fortitude, Presence ;
Auspex allows you to get a feeling on the victim, either by stalking him and get her weak points (she feels happy when in that park..), or with an object of hers, to find out more about her customs (steal her keys and you might just as well see her home). It also makes it sure you don't get a wrong target, or the target doesn't hide from you with Obfuscate. Presence is the only "control discipline" that is not affected by the Generation, so it gives you a slight edge if you engage normal conversation with your victim, you freeze her, and off with her head ! Fortitude is to resist any trap/ritual/aggravated dammage done to you by your victim, in case something goes wrong, it's about survavibility

| Okay -- Since the thread asks for Disciplines that a Kindred vampire-hunter should have, this will be a little different than the choices I'd pick for a normal vampire. Auspex - Being able to see auras, and tell human from Kindred, is a must. You have to find and identify the enemy, before you can kill them. Celerity - A battle can be lost or won in those first few seconds... especially if you have a stake. Potence - Brute force is not always the answer; but it can shut up the person asking the question. If we are building a new character, and the storyteller allows a fourth Discipline, I'd pick Fortitude, for the survival factor. If you're not able to take out your opponent quickly, outlasting them is a good 'Plan B'. If you have to pick a clan... then definitely Brujah. Then you can kidnap some low-level Toreador, and force him to teach you Auspex before you kill him. After that, you can do the same with some novice Ventrue, to learn Fortitude. Mental Disciplines have their uses, but for a vampire hunter, I think concentrating on the physical side makes more sense. If you are fanatical enough to hunt your own kind, then I find it unlikely that you are the type who concentrates on developing the power of your mind. No, you want to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women. | |

| Now to mix up your minds a little: Prefered disciplinesAnimalism is of paramount importance to stalkers who participate in Sabbat war parties. Auspex and Protean rank similarly*. And although most followers of the Path of Orion would prefer that they never get into an actual fight (making a perfect kill, instead), Celerity is valuable when things go wrong. (Chaining the Beast) Everybody got carried away on actual fighting, yet "Stalkers" prefer not to fight. Elaborate *Seems Noiad would make a perfect hunters. | |

| Ah. I missed the part that read 'Path of Orion'. I was just listing a generic vampire-hunting vampire.
I don't really like Sabbat-based games, so I'll pass on building the perfect Stalker.

| Protean, for strenght and bonuses to combat. EDIT: and Form of the Mist. Useful back door from sticky situations it is. Too bad it is absent in VtMB. Fortitude, for durability. Obfuscate, to dissapear into theshadows, if things go awry. Alternatively, Obtenebration, for the same purpose, plus the ability to smother your opponents with living shadow. If fourth Discipline allowed, Auspex for all the intel it could give you.
And having all those, fast and stealthy campaign of covert Diablerie, Tremere and Giovanni making prime targets. Their magical Disciplines and Generation beaing the target.
