What I found interesting was that when looking through the comment section there was not a single insulted Muslim, but there were multiple comments along the lines of "I'm Muslim and I agree with you."

That's . . . an interesting way to frame that argument. And possibly even a way to begin the conversation across borders.

The West was build on Roman law, Greek philosophy and Christian ethics. Core of those is the respect for truth. Consequently, the right to criticize what is seen as wrong is obvious in this civilization's paradigm.

The debate is not about any phobias or respect, but the existence of objective truth as understood by the Greek philosophers: as correspondance between the observation and actual state of things being observed.

It is interesting to observe as more and more purportedly Western countries became antithesis of westernnes. I am honestly curious as to what the end consequence could be.

@Malak: I do hope for that discussion, as well as for it being not the usual dialogue for heating the air's sake, but the classical dialogue: an exchange of arguments conducted with the aim of finding the truth.

But it gets worse. I had an Arab coworker who pronounced "banned" as "banded". He learned there is a difference only after I showed him some castration pics. The elastrator banding type. After this cultural shock he mispronounced it only occasionally... His language skills are not too great as for a smart guy he is.

All in all, when Islam is concerned, I think the Muslims are the best source, as long as you cross reference and are not shy to ask questions they may not like to hear.
