Bertram wants the photo destroyed

I'm playing a Nosferatu (CE 1.4, with patch), and I got an email from Bertram telling me he wants the Nosferatu photo from Simon Milligan's apt. destroyed. I got the photo, but when I went onto my computer (in the Send Emails file), I tried to type in 'Re Haunted LA' but I couldn't enter the last two letters. Apparently, my character's name is too long-- you can't enter the required line if your name is longer than five letters. I'm not going to start over with a shorter name, either.

Screw playing a Nosferatu. I've had nothing but frustration since I started... the 'challenge' isn't worth the pain in the ass. I'm going to start over, with another clan.

I also had a problem with this quest. If you pick the photo up before reading the email from Bertram the quest will never update and the respond option never appears.

When accessing the asian vampire's computer after getting the quest to destroy the reports, the send option is not appearing. The console showed several errors stating an unexpected EOF on the 3rd conditional ... and G.Nos_Haven_Quest == 5" with an arrow pointing at the "G" on one line and the "." on another. I altered the conditionals to get the send option to appear but I couldn't get it to work as intended because I had to remove the G.Nossie != 1 conditional. Not sure if the script can handle 3 conditionals, I don't know much about this game's limitations.

Anyway, after running the send function, nothing at all happened. In the script there was a command to run G.SetNosQuestFive(). I removed the "G." and it worked. But the credit for the college never appeared. In the python script that runs when the send function is fired, the variable G.College_Bertram is set to 1. However under the college section the checked variable is G.Bertram_College. I corrected this but it still isn't working. Does the python script have to be recompiled? Or did I miss something else?

Anyway, I got through this buggy quest (kind of) and I'm done messing with it for now.

I'm guessing the parser for the dependency field is limited to 63 characters. The line in question happens to be 64. I lopped off the e in "Nossie" in vamputil and asianvamp_laptop and the EOF error went away.

I also had a problem with picking up the photo before reading the email and had to use the console to change the quest flags. I apparently missed something since 'Nos_Haven_Quest' is stuck at 3 after viewing the second email, so I'll reload and double check.

To get around the long name I typed in the console:

As I understand it from usehavenpc(), Bertram gives you a discount equivalent to a basic course. So if there are none left for you to take, you might not see the more advanced courses unless you have enough money to make up for the difference.

Reloaded and found this in the console when reading the first email with the photograph in my inventory. Declared the variable and the quest works properly with photo.

It doesn't look like the global variables G and PC are being set if for instance I save in the Santa Monica haven and quit the game entirely. Then start back up and attempt to do the quest. At this point the scripts are complaining about G and PC not being set and the quest falls through. As a fix for myself I opted to set the variable for each routine. College bonus from Bertram does work since I took a free course with only $45 in the wallet.
