| Well, I just finished watching the full first season of True Blood in order. I bought the boxed DVD set last Saturday and I must say the show is as good as everyone told me. It doesn't follow VtM to the T but it does have ALOT of similarities. Things like a Maker is considered a Sire, and the Sheriff is plays the role of both the Sheriff and the Prince of a given domain.
The plot of this show is basically right on par with VtM except 2 years before the show starts, Vampires "come out of the coffin" so to speak because a Japanese company begins producing cloned blood (synthetic) called Tru Blood. Because Vampires don't HAVE to feed on people anymore they decide to break the Masquerade and come out of hiding. The 1st episode starts 2 years after that.
I don't want to give any spoilers away because each episode has it's own twists and turns and they build on each other, so you will definatley want to watch them in order. It's really like a 720 minute movie really, and yes there is plenty of nudity (It's HBO after all but you mostly see just tits n ass).
Anyways, I plan on buying Season 2 here shortly because you can say that I'm hooked! I watched the whole first season in 3 days because I was dying to see what was going to happen next, lol. Considering I never watch TV that's a huge compliment.
Alright, that's all I got for this review, I just wanted to make sure that you guys knew of this show in case you're interested in watching something you've never seen before... that's actually worth watching. With the Twilights and Vampire Diaries crap out, it's hard to tell what's good and what's "Sparklie" anymore.

| Told you it's really good! And guess what? It gets EVEN better Season 3 is the best in my opinion. You'll have to wait until you see Russel The King of Awesome Btw Vampire Diaries is not that bad either. Damon and Katherine (the bulgarian chick) are good vampires although the rest are Twilighters | |

| Sweet I can't wait, is True Blood Season 3 out on DVD yet? I don't get HBO so I have to buy them in the boxed set. It's only $40.00 per set which may be kind've expensive but it's over 700+ minutes of entertainment, not bad I'd say.
You and Max were the ones constantly telling me to watch it, and everything is frozen over here in the States so I figured hey why not. Since I can't go to work because of the ice and snow, I've been watching an episode of True Blood then spend an hour modding TFN, back and forth... True Blood gets me in the modding spirit!

Damon and Katherine (the bulgarian chick) are good vampires although the rest are Twilighters My only problem with that one is that the way Vampires are treated isn't very consistent. It made them sound dangerous in the first book(maybe not Stephen), where in the TV series, it seems to constantly change. Also, I do understand that they could have changed, but I'd think someone whose been around for over 100 years, would at least be, if nothing else, a little different from your average high-school kid. Not to mention the trend I've seen of these shows, where just because the characters are around that age, high-school plays a part(even if it's just for a few episodes, or a book or two). True Blood, I don't mind watching, but I'm not that interested. Not to mention that even this has that, scenario, where(unfortunately, just like Twilight and Vampire Diaries), a Vampire that is interested in a human, and will face the dawn just to protect her, never even thinks about where it almost needs to end up, if the relationship is going to go anywhere. Though in this case, there may be more to it(something about Sookie's ancestry or...something) that might prevent that, but I can't say.

| I'll try out, I think I've seen it pop up on netflix and I've been abit sheepish when scrolling over it, afraid to give it a chance really because of all the terrible vampire fiction to occur in the advent of LKH and Twilight. | |

| Second series of TB seemed a little weaker to me, but I agree with YamiRaziel, 3rd is awesome, Russel is (TV) showman Though, sometimes it seems to me that the only thing that separates TB from Twilight is the blood and sex. PS: "Bill, you're right, I believe I can sense her emotions." -Eric, S02. | |

| I hope this series is really as good as everybody keeps telling here. I've just ordered the first two seasons from amazon. And if it turns out to be bullshit, I'll definitely call a bloodhunt on the forum - | |

| LMAO!!!
I just finished Episode 5 Season 2 and it was really good. I can't believe people didn't like the second Season, so far it's been better than the first in my opinion. If Season 3 is even better than the 2nd, I'm in for a real treat!!!
I bought Season 2 last night and so far have watched 5 episodes (when I should be modding TFN). Bad Zer0 Bad!!

| I finished Season 2 and I don't want to give any spoilers away so there's little I can say about it. Let's just say... it was interesting. I would say the first half of the episodes were better than the second half, however there was still some good stuff in all 12. Since Season 3 isn't available in the DVD boxed set yet I guess I'll have to download it through a torrent. No biggie... | |

| True blood gave me a fetish i can never bring to life...unless of course i were to become a serial killer, and that just seems like too much hassle and not worth the trouble of having the cops after me | |

| Well I downloaded the entire Season 3 in High Definition and it looks and sounds spectacular! I've watched the first 4 episodes and I already see why Season 3 was so much better than Season 2. The third Season is actually about Vampires again, YAY!!! I mean you can really tell the studio dumped alot of money into special effects and really centered on Vampire Society and structure. It really has a Jyhad feeling about it and makes you almost feel like your watching a VtM show. I hope it stays like this for the rest of the Season. | |

| Oh, so you finally met Russell Edgington In my opinion he is just the best. Denis O'Hare does a marvellous job and he deserves an Emmy Award with his performance. He's so EPIC! After all - it's not a television it's HBO | |

| Russell? Is he the King of Mississippi? Dude is powerful, definately alot nicer than the Queen of Lousiana, but still just as evil holding Bill against his will. | |

| Just finished Season 3 which gets me completely up to speed with the whole series now that i've watched every episode in order.
WOW! Is all I can say… the show isn’t without its flaws, but it’s not enough to ruin it. Here are some of the likes and dislikes about the show as a whole.
Likes 1) It (especially Season 3) had a very strong tie to the Jyhad. They should’ve called it True Blood: The Jyhad. 2) It is very gritty, raw, powerful. They paid close attention to realism… once you know the characters, you can begin predicting how they would act in certain situations… and they do (most of the time). 3) Attention to detail… best I’ve ever seen in a show. If you watch, many TV series forget from one episode to the next about things like scars a character took, previous experiences the character had, and little things like haircuts, damage on vehicles. TB gets this all right, amazing!
Dislikes 1) They could definitely relax on the nudity. I counted and EVERY single episode had at least one scene bearing full ass and titties. It’s warranted on occasion I suppose, but sometimes it seemed over done, just for the sake of having it. 2) Too many male Gay scenes in Episode 3. The previous 2 episodes I don’t remember seeing it too often but in Episode 3, wow there was a lot of Gay love scenes.
I will say that this show is not for the light hearted. It appears to be modeled after the World of Darkness because misery and despair are very common in this show. It seems that just about every scene in every episode is about someone being miserable, someone bringing misery to another, or someone trying to find happiness in something false which leads to another scene of misery, lol. Just about every character is lost and in deep despair and I could only handle watching a few episodes at a time before I too began to get depressed and had to find something else to do. There’s a lot of lying, empty sex, murder, and back stabbing… which makes sense in the World of Darkness.

| Would you comment on Russell, Eric, Bill, Pam ? Sophie-Anne? In my opinion True Blood is one of the best shows out there... can't wait till season 4. You know, it is ART to transform such boring books into a show like this one. | |

| I completely agree. L2) It is the rawness, naturalism that sets it above others. Without it, it would be damn close to Twilight. D1) As I watched episodes as they were being aired, I always wrote to my friend stuff like "11", "7","20",.... = number of minutes till the first sex D2) I'm glad that Lafayette gets more space, his actor is just awesome, I believe him every step he makes... then again, too many sex scenes. Spoiler attempt: BOOO! When you see Bill turnig his Sire's head around snaping her neck and then nailing her, and you laugh, you know you're in love with the show. Damn I never know when to use apostrophe with s-es at the end of a word. Note to self: 292929 | |

| I just started viewing the series. So I probably should stop following this thread to avoid accidental spoilers for me. But you're right, I don't know if it's really necessary to go for so many sex scenes. On another topic: Now we know about the true reason for Romero's urgent needs. If the vamp blood really does that to a man Probably was the night of his blood fix then... - | |

- Yeah, in TB once you drink a vampire's blood, you begin dreaming about them... sex dreams of course because it's HBO - YamiRaziel wrote:

Sure I can comment on those characters. 1) Russell - He's incredibly powerful, but evil to the core. I'd love to see Godric come back from the dead and woop his ass. 2) Godric - Closest thing to a Salubri as you're gonna get on TB. He may not have the third eye, but damn did they hit the nail on the head when it comes to finding Golconda. 3) Bill - He's 150 years old, which makes him neonate or there abouts. He's definately more powerful than the fledglings but unfortunately for him, most of the Vampires he hangs out with are Elders or older. He's not quite as good as a Salubri, but pretty close, and I like him for that. He's a great character overall. 4) Pam - Younger than Bill, but older than Jessica. She's got a rockin' body for a 45 year old woman, got the face of an old harlett though. She's all over Eric's rod which makes sense being that she's his childe. She's a funny character but overall I put here in the evil category, maybe around 4-5 humanity. 5) Sophie-Anne - That's Bill's sire correct? I forgot her name but if it is, then she sucks balls, she's evil to the core like Russell. 1 Humanity and thinks like a Baali, I hated her sooo much! Without giving too much away, Season 3 rocked if nothing else because... well, just watch. Overall, Godric is my favorite Vamp on that show... a 2,000 year old Salubri-like Kindred... what more could you ask for?
