1/4th Greek, rest Swede. May or may not have some degree of unconfirmed Turk in there somewhere since apparently the former half of my surname, Kara, means "black" in Turkish (specifically it refers to something that is black) while the latter, Volos, means "bullet" in Greek; together meaning "Black Bullet". I can't say I mind having a surname that makes me sound like a pirate

It is indeed a very beautiful coreography, speaking as someone who loves corny kung fu movies.
It's a pity much of it is so useless now, however.

The second kung fu master is getting beat on by a boxing dude with only one hand. The kung fu master has been training since apparently 6 or 8 years of age, and his school descends from Ip Man (the man who trained bruce lee).

That's what you get for sacrificing strength for techiniques. Is funny because some MMA fighters win actually by being durable, not by dodging or knocking the opponent. These masters had nothing but techniques - techs that are not pratical for this (and probably any other) situation!

In the case of Syria? Mostly common people. They had enough of shit flying their way. So basically for Assad. I root for peace. And right now that means Assad. He's already practically won the war and from what I hear the only people still left fighting him are religious fundamentalists who are no less ruthless and tyrannical than he is.
Ideally I'd wish for Syria to become a proper democracy, but I also think that there is no chance of that happening in the short term and more importantly that change can't be imported from the west by force.
USA also no longer has a rational motive to be involved in the Middle East anymore because the so called shale oil revolution. According to projections USA will become a net energy exporter in 2022 (https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=34912). So there will be no point to fight wars for oil becuae they'll have enough of their own. The logical thing to do would be a return to a more isolationist foreign policy, closer to what the USA was like before WW2.
