Chris spots Claudia speaking with some others, presumably Tremere but then, with the girl being so social it is rather difficult to be certain. He observes the others she speaks with for a moment, uncaring about the fact he is still very much standing right in the middle of the door opening, and then lets his gaze wander to the……increased amount of Kindred roaming around and talking freely. He raises an eyebrow. “Huh. Lotsa people here now. Glad I don’t have to suffer through talking with everyone.” Though his voice isn’t loud, and certainly not intended to be heard by everyone, it is loud enough for Gosuin to hear, anybody close enough, as well as people with active Disciplines that increase ones senses.

Readjusting the strap of his laptop bag to shift the weight about a bit, Christopher calmly walks in the direction of the small group of Kindred and Claudia. He puts on a warm, charming smile as he approaches them. “Didn’t even break a sweat,” he says to Claudia, still smiling. “And here you were so worried about my health, begging me not to die.”

“And how have you faired in my absence my lady? All’s well I presume?” He continues to be entirely charming and gentlemanly, almost as though entirely oblivious to the insinuations of his words. Surely he’s not speaking as though he feels some kind of favor from the Tremere?

Gosuin raises an eyebrow when he hears Chris, but he doesn't comment and doesn't even give a glance. He's heard worse.

Claudia smiled at Mikael, but she looked a little surprised when she noticed Chris was aiming directly for her after his talk with Gosuin.
(Claudia) Good, then ! Ah, Magister, Mr Griffin, this is the Regent's guest, Mr Orlov. Magister Horsman was my tutor, and Mr Griffin is one of the harpies. Both are of House and Clan. I wasn't so afraid about our Prince but.. rather, other things.

Claudia doesn't answer how she did while he was out but she tries to dismiss the subject by making the presentations. She even looked a little worried.
Griffin gives a stare at the guest, observing him with a certain distance and mistrust. He does make the effort and offers his hand to shake.
(Jean-Pierre) Jean-Pierre Griffin.

Auspex 2:

William spots the new Kindred walking out of the office after making his comment to Neb.
"That must be the mysterious guest of Lyle's. And Duncan, I don't mean fully wooden bullets, the idea is to have a metal core with just enough wood on it to incapacitate a kindred on contact in the chest. IF you hit the heart."

Auspex=2:

Duncan looks over at the Kindred William is talking about; then he nods at William's speech, although he adds another condition to the current discussion.

And IF the bullet stops in the heart, instead of being deflected by a rib or going straight through, possibly causing only a brief moment of paralysis. Trust me, I've done my research on this. Wooden bullets, or ones like you describe, aren't worth the added expense of production. Easier and cheaper to merely use regular bullets, and don't stop until they're in torpor.

If your goal is to paralyze the target, you're really better off using a bow or crossbow with broadheads for hunting big game. Also a lot easier to remove than digging out a bullet, when you want to question your captive.

Or just a stake. A quality stake, made of oak or some other hardwood, is almost as good as a knife... and it doesn't set off a metal detector.

Chris briefly turns his attention to the individuals Claudia introduces. It is not lost on him that she doesn't answer his question, instead diverting his attention by making him talk to other Tremere. He sends a small, but surprisingly polite (at least, surprisingly to those that know him just a little bit), smile and nod. "Greetings, greetings. Well met."
Undisturbed by the mistrust in Griffin's eyes, Chris accepts the hand held out to him with both of his own, shaking it in return in a fairly enthusiastic manner. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance. Christopher Orlov. Chris to my friends. Goddamned asshole to good friends. If you can come up with something creative, I'll consider adding it to the list." The vampire turns to the one introduced as Horsman, holding out his hand to shake that of the Tremere in much the same way as he did with Griffin's. "My apologies if I appeared to be rude before. Claudia here just seemed to have been so worried about my wellbeing before sending me to the Prince that I felt obligated to reassure her that I was quite alright."

Mikael formally greets Jerome and Laure. When they are meaning to leave, Mikael adds:

Ah, M. Lehin, I have been meaning to speak with you. Unfortunately now is not the time nor the place. Would you mind if I contact you this week?

Mikael does not insist on them staying on the table. When they are leaving, he adds "God bless you both" as a farewell.
After the Toreadors leave, Mikael sits and adds jokingly to the two Tremere

You're as beautiful as always, mademoiselle. It was a gift to find the two most charming Tremere on the same table. That way you might save me from a social humiliation I shall certainly bring upon myself tonight. You know how it is, too many books on my head, too few people.

I do hope Corinna joins us. Although the four of us on the same table might get people anxious. Especially if we start talking in Latin. He adds with a smirk

When Christopher arrives, Mikael stands and warmly offers his hand to shake.
M. Orlov, a pleasure to meet you. Mikael Horsman, Magister of House and Clan Tremere and Lord Tarcisus personal steward.
Certainly, any friend of Regent Kersten is a friend of ours. I do hope you will grace us with our presence for the nights to come, even if Bourdeaux is having...interesting nights. Would you take a seat?

Mikael asks pointing to the empty seat left by Laure.

After social greetings by the Toreadors, Laure looks away as Mikael only speaks to Jerome. The Mandataire nods and agrees to being contacted ; he doesn't feel the need to share his phone number, as it's certainly already in chantry files, and anyway, Claudia has it and can arrange for them to meet. Both leave with polite farewells, although not as religiously inscribed ; "Please enjoy your night" or so.

Corinna is having a discussion with Alicia Vanderstree.
Griffin gave a stare at Mikael, but he doesn't insist and leave the Magister speak as he wishes ; he's probably not in the mood for a verbal joust with his clan mate. Claudia, on the other hand, can't help a chuckle, hiding her mouth with one hand, and making a movement with the other to ask Mikael to stop the flattery.
(Claudia) Oh please, if we really need to plot, we can plot in the Hotel. No need to scare our fellow kindred..

Obviously she disapproves of the idea of having a table with only Tremere, it'd look badly. She jokes about it and the reputation of the clan. The Harpy doesn't joke, but as a way of participating, he adds he'd withdraw from such conversation.
(Jean-Pierre) Count me out should it happen.

With Claudia presenting Orlov to both her clanmates, and when Mikael says friends, Jean-Pierre can't help a smirk.
(Jean-Pierre) So he does have friends.

Claudia doesn't word anything about Lyle having friends, but she loses the smile and her bubbly attitude, suddenly worried about something.

Auspex 2:

"Or just a stake" seems to be the most logical, simple and basic solution Theodore and Miriel can agree on. The discussion about bullets seem to bore the Toreador, but the Brujah just hears it out with interest. He does hear the questions he asked to Duncan being answered with more interest, and keeps it general as well.
(Theodore) Got it. I'm trying on my side to get access anyway. He certainly means about the Nosferatu, as he did come in with Doctor and they were talking.The more I think about it, I mean, from last week, the more I'm starting to think it wasn't Sabbat-planned. Apart from stupid embraces, obviously, but everyone can do that.
(Miriel) Hm.. but he is Lasombra. She adds with a smile. How do we really know about Sabbat practices.. Because this one did not have their regular bonding.. At least according to Regent Kersten. Ah, by the way, I'm Toreador.

Miri doesn't seem to doubt Kersten saying the Lasombra did not have "regular bonding", whatever that means. Protection against blood bonds is the main benefit for being Sabbat... She adds in her clan since it was mentioned as well.
(Theodore) Anyway, anything is dangerous if you know what you're doing. I always sucked with swords and blades, not my thing. 90's were good tho !

The Sheriff comes in the Deambulatoire with Victor de Sainte Croix.

Alicia, seeing the Prince's door is now open, seems to be wanting to finish her discussion with Corinna so she can answer to the Prince. She's very polite about it and her behavior is not pressing.

Once Fred spots the Sheriff, he gets up from his seat, papers in hand and walks up to both him and the primogen besides him.

Uncle! Is it true? It cannot be true can it?
Fred offers the papers to the Sheriff to confirm what he is referring to.
Fred looks quite afraid, obviously fearing the answer he wants the least from his so-called "Uncle".

Chris keeps the pleasant smile as he shakes Mikael's hand as well. "Regent this, Regent that. Seems like everyone is in on that joke. I'm going to have to tear Lyle a new asshole for all of this some time, and explain to him I'm not that gullible. But until then, I was indeed planning to keep gracing you with my wonderful presence."

Perception + Empathy > 4:

He takes the offered seat, casually plopping down on it as he puts his bag down in front of him on the table. "Though so far it seems some have taken to not enjoying my presence as much, despite my attempts to be the perfect gentleman." The vampire briefly sends a look in the direction of Corinna to indicate whom he was speaking off. "I suppose I'm out of practice?" An eyebrow raises as he says that, as though he is only scarcely able to believe that, and he looks at Claudia as though looking for some much needed support.

As the subject of Lyle having friends comes up, Christopher turns to Jean-Pierre. "Oh the two of us go back quite a few years now. Great minds think alike and all that mumbo jumbo, and we've managed to suffer one another's presence well enough. At least, we haven't gone out of our way to kill one another. I suppose that's close enough to an honest friendship in the snake pit that makes up our existence, wouldn't you agree?"

He remained standing, and gave a nod as his name was spoken by the Primogen.

"Yes, that's correct. I am a Toreador, sir."

He gave a nod to Duncan, appreciative of the explanation.

"I see, thank you."

The conversation seemed to quickly turn to Duncan, and something else that Felix was certain would be impolite to comment on, and the discussion of bullets and stakes only made him less talkative. His eyes moved to his sire once he noticed the other was leaving, and then once again looked over the room at those who had recently entered.

When the Sheriff and Victor enter the déambulatoire, Duncan watches with a frown as Fred runs to the Sheriff and presents his papers. Yet Duncan makes no move to stop him. However, he does smile at Felix when the Toreador politely tells Theodore his clan, and thanks Duncan for the reply to his question. Duncan seems pleased that Felix is making a good impression.

The younger Brujah turns back to Theodore and nods.

I saw you come in with Doctor; I had hoped you two were discussing that. I don't expect things to change, though. I'm sure we'll have to find out something definite first, about their guy.

Miriel comments about the Lasombra prisoner captured in the latest attacks, and the information she and Lyle Kersten extracted from him.
Too bad he didn't try to make a deal with the Prince. It's like the guy wants to die. Duncan catches Miriel's eye as he adds: His allegiances are about to be a moot point, at least for him. Too bad Kersten isn't here to tell the Prince about what you guys discovered during your interrogation.

Duncan glances over to the table where this Orlov person is talking to the three Tremere. He has not been paying attention to Claudia and her companions, but he notices when Laure and Jerome leave, and the new guy takes a seat. The neonate smiles at the sight, and speaks to those around his table in a lowered voice.

Auspex 1, Theodore, William, Miriel, Neb-uau, Felix:

Felix's eyes moved to the individuals speaking with Claudia and Griffin for a moment, pausing as if in thought before he looked back to Duncan and spoke in a quiet tone.

William shrugged.

Mikael listens to Chris attentively. When he comments about Lyle's status as a Regent, Mikael adds, with a joking tone of voice:
Oh, really? Well, Mdm Claudia and M. Griffin, that's why I ought to need your help. We have a new regent?

He touches Claudia's shoulder while asking.

(On the table OR Auspex 1) Perception + Empathy >= 6:

Horsman chuckles when Chris comments about people not enjoying his company, but makes no comment.

Horsman makes no comment when Chris turns his attention to Griffin, instead letting him answer.

Auspex 2:

Duncan seems alternately amused, then angry, then amused once more by William's whispered speech.

Auspex 1, Theodore, William, Neb, Felix, Miriel:

Duncan looks around at the Kindred who are standing, and at those still seated.
I guess we can sit down again. Elysium can be exhausting, with all of the 'stand up/sit down' stuff. Almost as bad as a Catholic mass. The neonate takes his seat once more, and with a gesture he indicates that Neb and Felix should do the same. Duncan takes his glass and finishes his drink.

Griffin can't help a raised eyebrow at the choice of words by Chris to talk about the regent. He is displeased but he didn't look pleased to begin with.
(Jean-Pierre) I can see why some may think it's a joke but I assure you it is not. Titles are important for those who do not have them. Make sure to use them when you are talking about any Primogen, including Primogen Kersten. In our Clan we tend to use more his title of Regent, as he is both.

Claudia nods, showing she agrees with the Harpy. She had worded it before to Christopher but not as well. She gives a slight smile at Mikael's touch, not moving away from it.
(Claudia) In his absence it's the highest ranking who works ad interim. She indicates Mikael with a smile, as he is the highest ranking she mentions.. But until the clan decides otherwise Regent Kersten remains our Regent.

Neb:

Christopher's expression turns into a blank slate as it is once more said that Lyle Kersten is in fact the Regent and Primogen of Clan Tremere. He stares at the Kindred for a few moments as though he expects to find proof of the exact opposite of what was claimed again. A curl of the lips, an amused flicker in the eyes, anything. Instead, he finds...nothing to indicate any tricks or falsehood regarding Lyle's position. The vampire slowly turns his head to look at Claudia as she speaks, confirming Griffin's words, and then he continues to look in the direction of Horsman. He doesn't speak, his expression doesn't change. For several moments he just sits there in complete silence.

Perception + Empathy > 3:

"Excuse me for a second." Chris pushes himself out of the seat, and takes a few steps away from the table. As he moves, he slowly pulls his phone, a surprisngly state of the art smartphone, from his coat and dials a number.

ST:

Chris waits as he lets the phone connect to Lyle's until he either picks up, or the voicemail pops up. He taps his foot on the ground impatiently as the phone dials.

Auspex 1:

From restless and impatient movements a moment earlier, Chris' posture suddenly becomes eerily still as he listens to what his phone conveys. His eyes appear to be fixed unblinking on a far off point only he can see. Whatever breath he'd had in his lungs to speak with slowly escapes and no new air is taken in. For several moments he stands there, still as a statue.

Perception + Alertness > 7:

Then a loud audible CRACK sounds through the Elysium, followed shortly by the softer sounds of small bits of glass, plastic, and metal falling to the ground. Only now does Christopher show some movement, slowly turning his head to look at his phone. Or its remains at least, still trapped between fingers tightly clenched into a fist around them. A look of barely contained fury flashes over his face, and Chris tosses the ruins of his phone aside with a growl before quite literally stomping back to the table, sitting down on his chair and opening up the bag on the table with fluid motions. The black metal surface of a laptop is revealed. Chris wastes no time in opening and booting it up.

Alicia leaves Corinna with a slight nod, smiling. She broke the seriousness of their conversation and after custom farewells, and a "I'm glad we talked" polite wordings, she leaves the Librarian. After verifying he is indeed free, she walks into Gosuin's room with confidence.

Theodore raises an eyebrow of what's spoken around him. Dark jeans, metal Tahiti, leather jacket, a chain to hold his keys and another for his wallet, boots, long semi dirty hair, and looking fairly fit. The typical image of the Brujah. Miri fakes being hurt and chuckles, sitting as well. Theodore doesn't sit, he indicated he didn't want to intrude for too long, so he puts his hands on the table in a way to be able to whisper and still be heard by the group.[i]

Duncan, Miri, Neb, Felix, William, spies:

(Theodore) I saw him the other night. [i]He speaks about Orlov. He's got that same chaotic shit Kersten usually have so if he's around the Tremere, my guess is that he's friends with him. That and Kersten wrote a letter vouching for him. He didn't mention his clan, but I'm more interested in his age and his background. And well, to be honest, I don't think Griffin is pleased to see anyone.

He certainly means that "Griffin not looking pleased" doesn't mean anything about whoever he meets.
Felix:

The Brujah Primogen then ponders a moment about Clans, him usually looking like a typical young Brujah.
(Theodore) Clans.. Uh, generally, it's just something you can't help, our sires choose us and not the other way around. Usually you can't tell, it's like religion or nationality. You'd see Gosuin with a gun and you'd never guess he's Ventrue ! Think of it as your horoscope ; yeah we share common traits, but I believe I can call my fist in your face "art" and get away with it. Most of Bordeaux is smarter than to judge someone by their clan, even if we still like to make stupid jokes.

He gives a glance to Duncan and smiles widely. He adds, as an example fo "stupid joke" ;
(Theodore) And you're wrong, Doctor and I were talking about boobs.

Obviously a way to confirm what they were actually discussing.
(Theodore) Kersten not showing up isn't uncommon. Usually he asks Griffin to tell the Prince that "he is very sorry but something came up, my vote follows X", but I suspect tonight isn't exactly like that.
(Miriel) Mhm and without "Lyle" around I have to testify about everything.. Ugh, boring. But, isn't it, say, a smart move as they call it? I have no reason to lie, and the Tremere Primogen confirming my version of what happened only makes it more suspicious... I was left alone most of the time, and what he found out through his magic, he told him, and I heard. And well, artsie.. She rolls her eyes an instant and smiles at Duncan. Suuure.

She lets the others draw their own conclusions about what she found out, how the interrogation went, and if it's indeed a smart move for Kersten not to give his version of the attacks of Saint Eloi.

Claudia allows herself a smirk when she overheard the phone not ringing.
(Claudia) See..

She does have a movement of backing up when Christopher comes back to the table ; there's no way such a frail looking man can break a phone without some other source of strength, be it blood or a discipline. She gives a glance at Mikael for reassurance. Griffin frowns at the gesture and rudeness displayed when he excused himself then came back without a word.
(Jean-Pierre) Obviously the Regent keeps his "friends" misinformed about who he is. He is also certainly the oldest kindred of the Court, with the exception of the Venerable.

The Harpy seems to enjoy turning the knife into the wound and adding another layer of "something to be pissed

Mikael cocky face slowly turns into a blank stare as he notices Chris had no idea of Lyle's position.
When Chris leaves the table, Mikael raises one eyebrow, and only speaks after a few minutes

Well, that wa-

The telephone crack cut his phrase short. Horsman answers Claudia's glance with a negative nod of his head, as in "Don't worry". He leans his body towards the table but leans back on his chair soon after. He makes no comment when Griffin starts his verbal assault, apparently content on watching.

Corinna returns the polite farewells, then takes a moment to take in the Elysium. She takes her time, letting her gaze sweep slowly across the room to take in the new groupings. Then she slowly walks over to the table where most of her clan and Chris are sitting. She notices the tension in the atmosphere and offers polite greetings, with a bow of her head, before sitting down next to Mikael.
She merely gives a questioning look at her clanmates.
