Sadly, three different stories have been given as to the origins of the Baali, and the Gehenna book didn't really give a concrete answer which was right. Due to the old tradition of how Baali are turned, I tend to go with the story of Saulot punishing a trio of infernalists by draining them, then dumping them in a pit of the bodies of their victims and spilling a bit of blood on them as condemnation. Very poetic, and fits the clan/bloodline all too well. However, the other story about them actually having their own Antediluvian is just as good, it simply doesn't explain their ritual.

However, me and Vora get along fine, despite clan rivalries. But nothing has gone wrong and hopefully nothing ever will.

However, if the Baali are a bloodline of the Salubri, it would be a huge mix of things.

First: It would be heavily ironic and cruel fate. With the Warrior caste killing them off, it's alot like family killing family. Even heavier if you consider the story of Paradise Lost. God cast out 1/3 of the heavenly host after they rebelled against him. Somewhat mirrored in the Baali wars, where the Salubri Healer and Warrior castes went against the Baali. 2/3s of Saulot's blood going against 1/3 of it.

Second: Would explain how they can slip into Chantries, since Tremere are (I've said this a thousand times, you already know what I'm going to say). Not to mention faking Thaumaturgy with Daimonion, due to flame wielding levels of it.

Third: The most ironic is that how they go about their things. The Salubri wish to enlighten vampires through Golconda and lead back onto the path of redemption to God. The Baali are scared sh*tless after finding out what existed before God said "Lights on!", so they give souls and go into the absolute depths of depravity so that if they wake up, they'll see that the world is messed up enough without them (if the TFN Baali clan story is right). Fitting both Messianic and Dark Messianic tendencies.

And Eye, IIRC, the one woman might have been Troile, the Brujah antedeluvian. IIRC, she let the Baali into Carthage, allowing them to do their rituals which had the Ventrue, the Salubri (and...Malkavians? Claudia halp) attack Carthage. And when she heard all was lost, she embraces (hugged) her Baali lover and "Melded into the Earth" (Protean?), which the victors proceeded to salt the entire earth where Carthage stood, so they cannot rise.

The Baali are feeding the Earthbound to keep them sleeping.
