Well, Biology is a science: you formulate and test a theory with experiments. If the theory allows you to predict the results of experiments, it is a correct theory.

Gender is a lot to do with sociology and even more with psychology. It is not science, there are questionnaires instead of experiments. If you formulate the questions right, you get the answers that match your theory...
